5 Worst Disguises in Anime, Ranked (One Piece Fans, You're Ready For This Talk)

Why do we even buy into these?

Sometimes, a character needs to go undercover, but often, they are incredibly bad at disguises. We want to talk about some of these ridiculous disguises to have some fun.

5. Euphemia from Code Geass

Going with the classic sunglasses and hat, Euphemia proves to be extremely bad at disguise, even though it somehow works for her. Her pink hair alone should have been a dead give-away, but nobody seemed to be able to see it until she lost her hat. Hats are not that powerful in real life, though, so it is a bad disguise.

4. Every Team Rocket Disguise from Pokemon

Team Rocket are not just the antagonists, they are also comic relief, and their bad disguises are an important part of us enjoying them as characters. Be they ballet dancers or punk rockers, they are always fun to watch. The disguises are still bad, though, so they fit on this list.

3. Roxy from Berserk of Gluttony

In the third episode of 2023's Berserk of Gluttony (Boushoku no Berserk) Roxy, who belongs to an important knight house, takes on a disguise to learn more about the people and also to figure out what is known about the creature that kills monsters near the town. To do that, she puts on a dress she would not usually wear and also puts her hair in two braids. When it is time for her to lose the disguise, she simply unbraids her hair, and everyone suddenly sees that it is Lady Roxy. This is a ridiculous disguise.

2. Straw Hat Pirates from One Piece

Dressrosa Island brings us the joy that is disguised One Piece characters. The disguise includes fake beards and mustaches… and that's about it. It is comically bad, but they did try, so they get points for effort. Of course, it is still a bad disguise.

1. Almost Everyone in Sailor Moon

 - image 5

Most Sailor Soldiers and other Sailor Moon (Bishōjo Senshi Sērā Mūn) characters who wear a disguise are not very good at it. Sailor Moon herself is certainly not disguised; in fact, her uniforms are more revealing than concealing. Tuxedo Mask probably makes the most effort in concealing his identity, but the fact that a simple mask can fool everyone around him also seems a little ridiculous. Overall, Sailor Moon does not have the best disguises.

Being bad at disguises is a common feature in anime, but if the disguise needs to work for the anime to progress, even simply braiding your hair is a disguise.

After all, anime-makers have control over what happens on the screen. Making everyone incredibly bad at noticing disguise is an old trick in anime.
