Bucchigiri?!'s Pacing is Very Fast, but the Plot Has Very Little Development

There are many actions, but only a few have value.

Bucchigiri?! spoilers ahead!

Summary:

  • Many viewers are already calling Bucchigiri?! the best anime of Winter season 2024.
  • The pace of Bucchigiri?! is fast from the very beginning.
  • While there is a lot of action in Bucchigiri?!, only a small part of it can be called useful.

Bucchigiri?! is the long-awaited season novelty from MAPPA. The title impressed from the first episode with its unusual, intense plot and, above all, its beautiful animation and character design.

Many viewers are already calling Bucchigiri?! the best anime of the winter, although there are enough impressive titles this season. You can already watch 3 episodes packed with events and action.

However, like any popular anime, the MAPPA project has its critics. The most common complaint is the annoying main character, but another reason is the pointless and repetitive plot.

Full of action

The pacing of Bucchigiri?! is fast right from the start. It’s not surprising, since the story revolves around Arajin — a loser and coward who finds himself in the middle of a gangster showdown.

Even the first episode is action-packed (the protagonist transfers to a new school, meets the love of his life, and even gets into a fight with her brother), and unlike the first episodes of Solo Leveling (Ore dake Level Up na Ken) or Blue Exorcist (Ao no Exorcist), it is quite successful and impressive.

Over the course of three episodes, Arajin has already had time to go through different gangs, meet a lot of characters, fight a few times, and master his new power a bit more. The pacing of the series is very impressive — the characters are constantly doing something and moving from one place to another.

On the other hand, the plot is very repetitive — all we see are fights and Arajin's unsuccessful attempts to win Mahoro's favor.

Meaninglessness of the events

While there is a lot of action and events in Bucchigiri?!, only a small part of it can be called useful for the plot. It's as if the title stopped at the first episode and used the same techniques, such as Arajin's pursuit of his favorite girl or other characters' surprise at the main character's physical abilities and toughness.

Moreover, all the new characters from different gangs don't differ much from each other.

The plot of Bucchigiri?! doesn't develop much — the mysterious genie Senya appeared in the first episode, but almost nothing is known about him and the power he gives. The story of what happened between Arajin and Matakara when they were children remains unresolved.

Although many viewers would like to know why the main character was so rude and cold to his childhood friend. So far, Bucchigiri?! really surprises with good visuals rather than content, but the potential of the title is great.
