Crunchyroll Announces Most of Its Lineup For Spring 2024: What Do Fans Think?

A lot of anime to choose from.

Summary:

  • Crunchyroll announced most of its lineup for Spring 2024, and it has a lot of isekai series.
  • Fans are generally happy with this selection.
  • The dub selection is smaller, but the most popular anime are getting dubbed.

The Spring 2024 anime season is starting very soon. As such, fans are very curious about which anime are going to get licensed by which streaming service. Of course, out of all of them, Crunchyroll gets the most attention, as it is the biggest dedicated anime streaming service.

Crunchyroll finally announcing their lineup of series made fans generally happy — there’s a wide selection of anime to choose from next season. There are still a couple of series they picked up that they have yet to reveal, but we know most of their lineup — and it makes fans very happy.

Many isekai and fantasy on Crunchyroll next season

The first thing that viewers notice is the number of isekai series on Crunchyroll next season. Of course, we get a lot of them every season, but it seems that the next season will have even more of them.

The most noticeable ones are the sequels of series that were already on Crunchyroll. The third season of KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! will be streamed there, as well as Part 2 of Season 2 of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation.

The former was already announced, and while the latter wasn’t, fans already felt it was going to be on Crunchyroll just like all the previous seasons.

New isekai series are also coming to Crunchyroll. One of the more remarkable ones is Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers (Lv2 kara Cheat datta Motoyuusha Kouho no Mattari Isekai Life).

While the premise itself is fairly generic, fans noticed that the seiyuu of the series are Rie Kugimiya and Satoshi Hino. They are famous for playing the leads in the 00s anime like Shakugan no Shana and The Familiar of Zero (Zero no Tsukaima).

Other isekai series licensed by Crunchyroll include As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World (Tensei Kizoku, Kantei Skill de Nariagaru), and Re:Monster. The latter is notable for adapting one of the first novels where the protagonist was reincarnated as a monster.

“Fantasy that feels like isekai but isn’t one” is basically its own genre at this point, and we’re getting some of these as well.

They include Season 2 Part 2 of The Misfit of Demon King Academy, as well as 3 new anime: The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases, I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability, and An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride.

Sequels and spin-offs

In general, Crunchyroll got a lot of sequels for Spring 2024. The new season of Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) is coming to Crunchyroll, and you can actually watch the previous seasons there — they used to be on Funimation before.

Other sequels of note include Laid-Back Camp (Yuru Camp△) S3, The Duke of Death and His Maid (Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid) Season 3 and The Irregular at Magic High School (Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei) Season 3.

Crunchyroll is also getting a couple of remakes and spin-offs. Notably, the Spice and Wolf (Ookami to Koushinryou) is coming to Crunchyroll — and you could already watch the original there. The same can be said for the new Bartender anime.

As for spin-offs, Nijiyon Animation Season 2 and The iDOLM@STER Shiny Colors will also be on Crunchyroll.

Other anime

If you want some potential new bangers, Wind Breaker and Viral Hit (Kenka Dokugaku) will probably be very popular — and both are going to be on Crunchyroll. Kaiju No. 8 (Kaijuu 8-gou) is coming to both Crunchyroll and X (formerly Twitter), but please, don’t watch it on X: the video quality is going to be very poor.

Crunchyroll is also going to stream the two movies by the Durarara!! author, Kuramerukagari and Kurayukaba. More niche new series include shoujo anime like Vampire Dormitory and A Condition Called Love (Hananoi-kun to Koi no Yamai).

Crunchyroll is also getting the omegaverse BL anime Tadaima, Okaeri — a very niche genre, but something fans of it are happy to see licensed at all.

The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio (Seiyuu Radio no Uraomote) is a yuri anime that is also going to be on Crunchyroll. It’s not the only yuri anime next season, though, but Crunchyroll isn’t going to stream Whisper Me a Love Song (Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau): HIDIVE picked it up instead.

Other series picked up by Crunchyroll include Astro Note, Gods' Games We Play (Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru.), Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again (Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru), Oblivion Battery (Boukyaku Battery), Shadowverse Flame S3 and Train to the End of the World (Shuumatsu Train Doko e Iku?).

And, of course, the platform might license some anime mid-season.

Dubs

As for English dubs — far fewer anime will get them, but the most beloved sequels certainly will. This includes KonoSuba, Black Butler, Mushoku Tensei, The Duke of Death and His Maid, and Laid-Back Camp.

The Spice and Wolf remake is also getting one. Among the new anime, the notable dub announcements are Wind Breaker, Viral Hit, Kaiju No. 8, and A Condition Called Love.
