Crunchyroll spent the weekend celebrating things that are suddenly ten years old
Two of the most durable franchises of the 2010s hit the decade mark this year, and Crunchyroll built its Anime NYC programming around that fact.
- Bungo Stray Dogs, 10 years. Friday panel with Yuto Uemura, the voice of Atsushi, and producer Chiaki Kurakane.
- Re:ZERO, 10 years. A live music concert plus a Q&A with Yusuke Kobayashi, the voice of Subaru, and artist Konomi Suzuki.
- Crunchyroll News, 15 years. The editorial team on stage discussing how the outlet evolved — a very 2026 thing for a streaming service to program at a convention.
- Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun. Saturday panel with Setsuo Ito and general director Makoto Moriwaki.
Also on the slate: the world premiere of Magical Buffs on Saturday, plus two mystery premiere screenings the company deliberately kept unnamed until the last possible moment, which is a reliable way to fill a room.
Both anniversary series premiered in 2016 and have aged in opposite directions — Bungo Stray Dogs into a stable long-running franchise with a devoted fanbase, Re:ZERO into a show whose fandom argues about it with the intensity usually reserved for religious schisms. Ten years on, both still fill a panel hall.
