Korean manhwa, now most often released in the online webtoon format, is rapidly gaining popularity around the world — Solo Leveling being the main example. Here are five anime titles based on stories by South Korean authors.
1. Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion, 2023
After she dies, the girl is reborn as Raeliana McMillan. The life of the modest baron's daughter is very familiar to her because she is a secondary character in a novel she read during her lifetime.
She knows that Raeliana is in danger of dying at the hands of her fiancé, but everything could be different this time. Unless, of course, she falls in love with him or finds someone more dangerous to save her.
2. A Returner's Magic Should Be Special, 2023
There is little time left until the end of the world. All corners of the globe are disappearing into the Shadow Labyrinth, an alternate reality. Something has gone wrong with the universe's grand mechanism, and the bravest have gone there to find and prevent a catastrophe in the multiverse.
After another mission, only the magician Desir is left alive, but he is sent back 13 years. Now, he has a chance to stop the labyrinth from expanding and save everyone from death.
3. Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp, 2024
She is a talented surgeon in the present, but in the past, she was Empress Elise, who had a rather unkind and mean character. Her constant envy and thirst for power made her unbearable. On the threshold of death, however, the noblewoman realized her mistakes and decided that she would devote her future to saving people, not destroying them.
However, the surgeon tragically dies and returns to her past life. It seems that Elise is now ready to start her life over.
4. Viral Hit, 2024
Nowadays, bloggers have special powers. They are popular and earn a lot of money, yet they don't know the difficulties of life. Ho-bin, a schoolboy, is very jealous of his classmates because he can barely make ends meet.
Everything changes when a video featuring him goes viral. He and his friend then start their own channel where they try to learn how to fight. At first, Ho-bin lies on the floor helplessly, but gradually, he becomes stronger, and the number of subscribers increases.
5. The God of High School, 2020
All the high school students in Korea decided to find out who the strongest among them is. The winner will receive a special prize: the fulfillment of one wish. Mori is confident that he is the most capable and is participating in the God of High School tournament.
It seems like there will just be a big massacre, but this chaos was not cooked up for fun – there is a real search for the best.
