They seem calm, but you don’t want to anger them.
ISTP stands for introverted, sensing, thinking, perceiving. These are people of action, not words. They may be too quiet at times, but it doesn’t mean that they don’t have an opinion.
They are very independent and enjoy being left alone and given time to think.
10. Hyakkimaru ― Dororo
ISTP people are very goal-oriented and this describes Hyakkimaru the best: no matter what happens and no matter what consequences might await him, he will defeat the demons and get his body back.
He had no voice at the beginning of the story, but even when he learns to speak, he doesn’t say much. Hyakkimaru prefers his swords and his actions speak for themselves.
9. Lucy ― Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
Lucy likes to keep things to herself. Getting her to talk about her past is no easy task. But she’s not just a quiet shy girl: if it’s needed, she’ll become the fiercest of opponents.
Lucy dreams big: her desire to one day travel to the Moon shows how much of a romantic she actually is deep inside.
8. Touka ― Tokyo Ghoul
Calm, reserved, and can kill you if you piss her off. It feels like we’re talking about the same person for the third time already, but there’s a reason why all of these characters are ISTP.
Touka is inherently very kind, but she learned to hide this side of her due to her history. However, if you try hard (or if you’re Kaneki), there’s a chance to see this side of her.
7. Mash ― Mashle: Magic and Muscles
He may seem reserved and dispassionate, displaying little to no emotion, but don’t be fooled: he does indeed have emotions. If Mash sees that one of his loved ones is hurting, he will get furious and will try to protect them as much as he can.
Mash is very blunt, but don’t be scared or insulted when he tells you the truth, he means well and actually wants all the conflicts to be solved peacefully.
6. Guts ― Berserk
Guts’ past that was filled with suffering left a mark on him: he’s become stern and cynical. But if you manage to get him to trust you, you’ll see his easygoing and compassionate side.
It’s better not to anger Guts because his revenge will be terrible, and nothing will ever be able to stop him. He’s determined and often cruel, and this is a frightening combination for someone who’s after you.
5. Ash ― Banana Fish
Unlike many other ISTP characters, Ash seems to be more lively and charismatic. He knows how to be a great leader and how to make people follow him.
Despite Ash’s very young age, he is extremely intelligent and skilled at combat. Combine it with his charisma and good looks and you will get a very dangerous and almost unbeatable person.
It’s difficult for Ash to open up to other people and he can have major trust issues at times, but it’s a no-brainer: his life taught him to be like that.
4. Aizawa ― My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia)
Stern and reserved, that’s something that seems to be true for most ISTP characters.
Aizawa is very skilled, and he holds others to the same standard: he expects nothing less than greatness from his students. He has little tolerance for disobedience and can be a bit too strict sometimes.
But Aizawa is not this monster-teacher that you’ve seen plenty of at your school. Despite being demanding to his students, he genuinely cares for them and will go to great lengths to protect them.
3. Jotaro ― JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken)
Jotaro is very perceptive and intelligent — he manages to look calm and aloof almost all the time.
His quick wits allow him to deal with any situation and his personality helps him keep his composure while doing so. Jotaro is a man of few words, as he thinks that people around him would understand what he’s feeling without him expressing it.
2. Toji ― Jujutsu Kaisen
Toji is very skilled and he knows exactly how good he is, which makes him an incredibly confident person. So confident that it’s sometimes annoying. His wits and intelligence make him even more frightening, and he’s the person capable of competing in banter even with Gojo.
Toji is very calculated in his strategies, so even the strongest sorcerers should stay alert if they’re brave enough to battle him.
But there is a heart behind all of that, and when Toji gets married, he decides to leave his old ways in the past. Unfortunately, not for long.
1. Levi ― Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin)
How could Levi not be our number one?
Just like the rest of the characters on our list, Levi seems aloof and even bored sometimes. He doesn’t speak a lot, preferring his actions and battle skills to do the talking.
Levi cares about duty and loyalty a lot, and if he’s made a promise, he’ll do anything to make it happen.
Even though Levi doesn’t like talking about his feelings, we know that he has them, and he truly cares for all of his cadets and wants to help them as much as possible.
