Can rubber bullets penetrate metal? Who is Robota? These and other mysteries have puzzled fans of the Lycoris Recoil anime.
Anime is not always an easy genre to understand. Memories of Serial Experiments Lain and Ergo Proxy are still fresh, understanding what was a difficult task for viewers.
Anime Lycoris Recoil is a very easy to understand story about two partners. But even this anime hides many secrets that puzzled fans of this title.
1. What Kind of Bullets Does Chisato Use?
This anime is about the work of killer girls known as Lycoris. But the coolest Lycoris, Chisato, doesn't kill anyone and uses rubber bullets. And these bullets behave strangely.
In one of the episodes, they go through a metal car door. Fans wondered – if a bullet can break through a car door, can it be considered safe for a person? After all, Chisato is trying to save lives and only stuns enemies.
Many theories have been proposed. According to one, the bullets are made of nanotechnological material that does not harm humans or animals, but causes increased damage to hard surfaces.
From the point of view of the anime's setting, this is unrealistic – the action takes place in our days. Another version suggests that Chisato's gun has two modes – normal and enhanced, which allows it to pierce metal.
2. Is Robota a Cyborg?
Robota is one of Japan's best hackers. He wears a full-sized robot head on his head. He never takes it off, walking around the streets like that, even in moments when his life is hanging by a thread. Many questions immediately arise – What is it made of? After all, is Robota a cyborg?
The fan community quickly found an answer. In the official fanbook Lycoris Recoil: Heroine Archive Chisato & Takina says that Robota wears a headdress in the shape of a robot's head. It also shows a sketch of his appearance without that strange hat.
3. How Could Walnut Be an Old Hacker?
One of the biggest mysteries of the anime is the identity of the legendary hacker of the golden age of the Internet – Walnut. He became a legend in the 90s, and everyone thinks of him as an old man. However, from the anime we learn that Walnut is a young girl named Kurumi, who was clearly born after 2000. How can this be?
One of the fan theories is that Walnut is an advanced artificial intelligence that appeared in the 90s and escaped from its creators. But Kurumi managed to hack it and take the name for herself.
Another version is that someone deliberately transferred Walnut's identity to Kurumi. Either way, Kurumi herself could hardly have been hacking in the 90s, since she is no more than 18 years old.
4. Why Did the Leader of the Special Unit Look At Chisato Strangely?
There are many different organizations in the world of Lycoris Recoil. One of them is LilyBell, a special unit made up of street kids.
When LilyBell meets the Lycoris troops, Chisato blocks their way. At that moment, Takina notices that the leader of LilyBell is looking at Chisato very strangely.
Chisato has already told Takina that LilyBell came to her house. They could only have come with one purpose – to destroy her. But as you can see in the anime, they failed. Such a failure could lead to LilyBell being punished by the authorities.
