The next Haikyuu!! movie is officially on the way, but fans looking for a clear release date are still out of luck.

Titled Haikyuu!! VS The Little Giant, the film picks up immediately after The Dumpster Battle and follows Karasuno as they head into the quarterfinals of the Nationals — this time, against powerhouse Kamomedai High.

So far, no release date has been announced in Japan or internationally. But if the timeline follows The Dumpster Battle (which was announced in August 2022 and premiered in February 2024), the safest bet is a late 2025 to 2026 release, depending on production and marketing rollout. The long gap between announcement and theatrical release makes a 2025 premiere unlikely, at least outside of Japan.

What Chapters Will VS The Little Giant Adapt?

The film will cover chapters 327 and 338–365 of the manga, continuing the Tokyo Nationals arc.

That includes Karasuno's clash with Kamomedai High — and Hinata's long-awaited face-off with their star player, Korai Hoshiumi, a fellow undersized but ultra-skilled "Little Giant."

For full context, another match — Fukurodani vs Mujinazaka, featuring Bokuto and Kiryu — will be covered separately in an upcoming special titled The Place Where Monsters Go. That storyline spans chapters 328–337, so it won't appear in The Little Giant movie.

Is This the Final Haikyuu!! Movie?

That's still unclear. In 2022, it was announced that Haikyuu!! would conclude with two "FINAL" movies instead of a fifth season. But since then, the word "Final" has quietly disappeared from official marketing for VS The Little Giant.

Considering that The Dumpster Battle earned over $100 million worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing Japanese films ever, there's reason to believe more content could be coming — especially to cover the manga's post-timeskip Final Arc. Whether that turns out to be another movie, a new season, or a series of specials remains to be seen.

First Trailer and Visuals

The teaser trailer is already out and gives a quick look at both Karasuno's journey through the tournament and the arrival of Kamomedai's Hoshiumi. It's short — about a minute — but promises more of the high-energy, sharply animated action that Production I.G. is known for. A new poster has also been released, featuring players from across the tournament.

Expected Cast and Characters

All the core members of Karasuno are returning:

  • Hinata – Ayumu Murase
  • Kageyama – Kaito Ishikawa
  • Daichi – Satoshi Hino
  • Asahi – Yoshimasa Hosoya
  • Nishinoya – Nobuhiko Okamoto
  • Tanaka – Yu Hayashi
  • Tsukishima – Koki Uchiyama
  • Sugawara – Miyu Irino
  • Yamaguchi – Soma Saito
  • Yachi and Kiyoko will also appear on the sidelines.
  • From Kamomedai, expect:
  • Hoshiumi – Natsuki Hanae
  • Hirugami – Yu Miyazaki
  • Sawa – voice actor TBD

If this release follows the same pattern as The Dumpster Battle, Haikyuu!! VS The Little Giant will premiere in theaters first, followed by a streaming release on Crunchyroll approximately six months after its international run.
