5 Most Anticipated Anime Sequels to Watch in 2024

Fans have been anticipating some of these for years.

Many sequels are coming out these days, and even more are being announced. It’s a good thing — fans want more of their favorite shows. With these many being produced, some make people especially excited, however.

Let’s take a look at them.

Tower of God

Tower of God (Kami no Tou) is one of the most popular manhwas out there. Fans were very excited about the adaptation, which aired in 2020 — and less than thrilled when they realized that Season 2 was nowhere in sight. People only familiar with anime were confused as well — it left more questions than answers. It is understandable, however, because the focus and the genres of the manhwa slowly shift over time. With the sequel set to air in summer 2024, it seems like we are finally getting what everyone wants.

Mushoku Tensei

This sequel was expected and obvious, but still very welcome. Mushoku Tensei’s epic length requires many seasons, and the confusingly named Season 2 Part 2 is going to air in April. The good news for all the fans out there is that Studio Bind seems to want to keep animating Rudeus’s adventures. At the current pace, this cour will probably end around volume 12 out of 26. Let’s just hope it looks as good as previous seasons did.

KonoSuba

KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! 3 has been announced for a while. After the spinoff/prequel about Megumin, fans definitely want more of the show itself — with the movie releasing 5 years ago, they have had half a decade with no actual progress of the anime. It seems their prayers are finally being answered, and while there is still no concrete date, the third season of the show is set to air in 2024.

Blue Exorcist

This one came out of nowhere, yet shocked everyone. Blue Exorcist (Ao no Exorcist) was a classic staple of the early and mid-10s, yet by the time the second season came out (2017), people were largely losing interest. With the sequel not continuing from where the first season stopped (because the original was half filler or so), it was natural the viewers were confused. This time, however, it seems like nostalgia and revival of forgotten (yet beloved in the past) anime projects is winning. People seem to be mostly aware of the issues the first season had, and they’re excited for the adaptation of Shimane Illuminati Saga, set to air in January 2024.

Kingdom

With the 5th season being announced for 2024, it would seem like Kingdom should be losing popularity. The reality, however, is the opposite from that: more and more people seem to be picking up if not the anime, then the manga at least. It is understandable, though: the first season got heavy criticism for its subpar CGI animation, and the second one didn’t look good, either. Starting from Season 3, however, the show becomes a hit, both visually and plot-wise, as the anime enters the fan favorite arcs of the manga. Some source readers even skip the first two seasons of the adaptation (because they’ve read the content anyways) to watch the anime starting from the third one.
