A story about a school legend which turned out to be true.

Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun first appeared on the small screens in the winter of 2020 and then went on a long break. Five years later, Lerche Studio has finally released the second season.

What Is Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun About?

According to rumors, there are seven school mysteries within the walls of Kamome Academy. The seventh of them is Toilet-bound Hanako, who can grant any wish and lives in the girls' bathroom.

Curious student Nene goes to the bathroom to check out the legend and actually meets Hanako. Surprisingly, the ghost turns out to be a boy. He says that he is willing to grant the wish, but he will take something valuable in return. Nene really wants a handsome boy to fall in love with her.

Then Nene discovers a bag of mermaid scales. Hanako says that the scales can help, and if you eat them with the object of your adoration, you will be intimately connected, but you will be cursed in return.

Nene swallows the scale, but at the last moment decides not to feed the second one to her school crush, so she fully accepts the curse and turns into a fish. Here, the girl is saved by Hanako, who eats the scale, weakening the curse.

The student and the ghost are connected, so Nene becomes the assistant to the seventh school mystery.

Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun Is a Funny and Colorful Story

Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun is a rather intriguing and light story filled with otherworldly mysteries. The title is animated as if the manga pages came to life and started moving.

Colorful visual style and witty characters create a very friendly atmosphere around the title. There is no anxiety while watching, because even in moments of battles and other encounters with evil spirits, there is no sense of escalation of mortal danger.

Maybe excessive childishness can become a serious drawback for someone and push them away, but the series as a whole looks like a shojo trying to disguise itself as a shonen.

Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun Will Appeal to Both Male and Female Audiences

You might think that the main audience of Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun is female. However, it is possible that the title is admired just as much by adult men and boys who are simply embarrassed to admit it to themselves or others.

Of course, the series has its flaws, but on the other hand, this simple story is too attractive with its colorfulness and mystery.
