1. Welcome to the N.H.K., 2006
22-year-old Tatsuhiro doesn't study anywhere, doesn't work, hardly ever leaves his house, sleeps 16 hours a day and is sure that it's all because of aliens.
He knows his problem very well, but when Misaki appears on the threshold of his apartment, he desperately denies the title of hikikomori. He assures the girl that he just works from home and creates computer games.
Misaki doesn't really believe this pathetic lie, so the man promises to show her one of his games soon. Together with his neighbor, he begins to develop a game that, in their opinion, will help them achieve fame, recognition and money.
2. Death Parade, 2015
Visitors to the Quindecim Bar are only allowed to enter after dying.They are greeted by the bartender, Decim, who offers them a deadly game. The form of the offer is pure politeness, as refusals are not accepted.
Visitors randomly select a contest option and begin playing. Decim does not care who wins; he is more interested in how the best and worst qualities of the players will manifest themselves in the face of imminent death.
3. The Future Diary, 2011-2013
The withdrawn student Yukiteru prefers to communicate not with his peers, but with his diary. He writes down everything he sees around him. The teenager compensates for his lack of real friends with imaginary ones.
And one day, one of his imaginary friends named Deus gives Yukiteru a gift: the entries in his diary now appear before events happen. The student sees everything that will happen in the near future, and he is delighted with such a feature.
But his joy is short-lived: it turns out that several other people have similar diaries, and they all want to kill him, because the last one alive will become the successor of the God of Time.
4. Psycho-Pass, 2012-2019
2111, Akane joins the Public Safety Bureau. The agency's employees are busy catching and, if necessary, shooting people with bad Psycho-Pass scores – a mandatory bracelet for everyone that measures aggression levels.
An AI called Sibyl decides how dangerous a person is. If the score is low, you can live safely; if the score is slightly high, you are offered psychotherapy; if Sibyl deems the case advanced, the person is sentenced to immediate liquidation.
On her first day on the job, Akane disagrees with the AI's decision and believes its conclusions to be wrong. However, the girl still has a lot to learn and understand about the work of the Bureau's employees.
5. The Tatami Galaxy, 2010
A student at Kyoto University cannot understand why he has wasted the two years that have passed since he began his studies. Dreaming of a great student life, he chooses a tennis club to make friends and find a girlfriend.
However, everyone in the club is quickly divided into pairs, and the boy is left in loneliness. He has one friend, who rather irritates the student. And he is afraid to talk to the girl he likes.
And then fate takes pity on the unhappy student: time rewinds and he returns to the beginning. This time he chooses a movie club.
