- It’s scheduled for 2024.
- The first trailer has been released.
Good Bye, Dragon Life (Sayounara Ryuusei, Konnichiwa Jinsei) is an action fantasy web novel by Nagashima Hiroaki. The anime adaptation by SynergySP and Vega Entertainment has just been announced.
Good Bye, Dragon Life will provide a fresh take on reincarnation, as this time it’s a dragon who gets reborn. He used to be the oldest and most powerful of them, but now he’s just a human guy named Dolan, who meets Celina, a half-human and half-snake creature.
Anime details
Although we haven’t received the exact release date, the anime is scheduled for sometime in 2024, and some cast and staff members have also been revealed.
Kenichi Nishida (Odd Taxi, Hunter x Hunter) is directing the series and Nozomi Kawashige (Mr. Villain's Day Off, The Chronicles of Rebecca) is working on the character design. The two leading actors are Hitomi Sekine (Otaku Elf, Berserk of Gluttony) as Celina and Shunsuke Takeuchi (Great Pretender: Razbliuto, Vinland Saga) as Dolan.
First trailer is out
The anime has dropped its first trailer to give fans a glimpse of what the series will be like. Although there isn’t much to go with for now, we can’t help but notice the great atmosphere of the video. It gives you just the right old-school fantasy vibes.
The two main leads’ character design is great, and you can sense the chemistry between Dolan and Celina instantly. We can’t wait to see how their relationship will develop.
First impressions
Since Dolan used to be a very powerful being, fans are worried that he’ll be one of those annoying overpowered main characters. They hope they’re wrong, though, and that this is actually a story about an almighty dragon learning to live as a weak and useless human. Such struggles can provide a lot of room for character development and will be just hilarious.
Novel readers ask you to give the series a chance. There will be some power showcase, indeed, but Good Bye, Dragon Life will mostly focus on character development and interactions. The dragon’s human life will definitely affect him and he’ll learn to deal with it step by step while trying to help others grow.
Fans still remain skeptical for now, though, since there’s nothing extraordinary in the trailer, and the anime feels very generic. But let’s give it the benefit of the doubt and wait for more details.
