Greed and Fate Make the Perfect (Deadly) Pair in Berserk of Gluttony

Greed deserves the title of wingman for helping Fate in every situation.

Berserk of Gluttony (Boushoku no Berserk) has a very interesting character, and that is Greed, the sword of the main character, Fate. Greed is constantly talking and making comments about what is happening, and that is often very useful.

We will be revealing some spoilers, so be careful if you do not want to spoil the anime for yourself.

Advisor, Wingman, and Comedic Relief

In the world of Berserk of Gluttony, characters' position in the society is determined by the skills they receive from birth. Greed is the perfect match for Fate because both of them have skills that are not exactly approved by society. That makes sense since apparently, they both need to consume souls to survive. It is Greed who knows that; Fate did not know much about his skill of gluttony, and, just like everyone, assumed that it was about food.

Greed is the one who explains his own needs to Fate, and he also explains that Greed himself will feast on the characteristics Fate had acquired to improve. Just like Greed had said, Fate and Greed are very similar in their skills and needs.

However, guidance and explanation is not the only thing Greed does for Fate. Sometimes Fate is in a difficult situation and Greed suggests ways for him to get out of them. It can happen in battle, when Greed warns Fate of the opponent's strength, but it can also occur during a social outing. For example, when Fate and Roxy were out in disguise, trying to investigate something for Roxy, Greed rightfully reminded Fate not to call Roxy by her name.

Also, when their disguise was in danger due to people starting to recognize Roxy, Greed recommended pretending to be a couple. As Fate and Roxy talked to each other as if they were married, the people around them were convinced that they were wrong, and the lady with Fate was not Roxy.

So He Talks to His Sword...So What?

Finally, of course, we have to note that Greed likes to talk nonsense, and it can, at times, be funny. He comments, for example, on Roxy smelling nice, and it is quite inappropriate but it does make Fate squirm. If only Fate could learn to stop talking to his sword in public…

In general, if Fate had enough restraint not to answer out loud every time Green speaks, Greed's antics could be quite funny. Greed knows a lot, is quick of wit and willing to both help and crack a joke. He is a lot of fun, and we are looking forward to watching him guide Fate through the issues that their skills are causing.
