The upcoming sequel of Tower of God (Kami no Tou) is one of the most highly anticipated anime of the Summer 2024 season. It’s really easy to see why — it was the first manhwa adaptation that went mainstream. The source material was already very popular, and the anime boosted its popularity. It, however, ended on a cliffhanger, leaving more questions than answers.
Now, the second season is coming out very soon — and because of that, fans are speculating on how long it will be. There’s a lot of content left to adapt, and one cour definitely won’t be enough.
Fans Want to Believe It Will Be 2 Cours Long
What was adapted so far was just the first part of the series. Part 2 is way longer, and one cour won’t be enough for it. Just its prologue is half as long as the first season of the anime, and if the series keeps the same pacing, it will need 1.5 cours to adapt both it and the The Workshop Battle arc.
Most fans believe the series will be 2 cours because of this: the first season was rushed in certain parts. There also have been rumors about the new season being 2 split cours, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
It is, however, pretty clear that The Hell Train, the arc after The Workshop Battle, will not be adapted in S2. The reason for it is that it’s around 200 chapters long — more than twice as long as the entire S1 — and there’s still content before it. It would take more than 4 cours to properly adapt everything — and that still won’t even be close to where the manhwa is right now.
Will Tower of God be fully adapted? Only time will tell. As for now, there are only speculations — and fans want the new season to be 2 cours long. After all, it having only 12-13 episodes definitely won’t be enough.
The First Three Episodes Will Be Previewed in Japan
While most of the world will be waiting until July 2024 for the anime to come out, it will actually have a prescreening. The first three episodes will be previewed in Japanese theaters on June 23 — around 2 weeks before the broadcast will actually start.
The rest of the world probably isn’t getting any previews, though. As usual, they also won’t be available online: Japan has very strict piracy laws, and most of the time, not even camrips of these are available.
