Mechamaru was bound by a special oath not to reveal the villains' plans.
With each new episode of Jujutsu Kaisen, the situation in Shibuya becomes more difficult. Favorite characters are dying and Yuji's emotional state is getting worse and worse. The last episode was surprisingly realistic in its depiction of the protagonist's lost state. But it seems like everything could have been prevented. Most viewers blame Gojo for being too carefree, which led to the disaster. But what about Mechamaru?
The guy with a giant mecha robot
Mechamaru doesn't stand out among the other Jujutsu Kaisen supporting characters. However, he has one of the most intriguing stories in the universe. He appears in the first season during the Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc, in which students from the Tokyo and Kyoto academies meet in confrontation.
Mechamaru doesn't get much screen time, and in fact, the only time viewers see him is in a fight with Panda. During the battle, we learn that Mechamaru is a physically weak man who cannot fight without a special robot and is very angry about his fate. However, he doesn't inspire much sympathy at the moment.
The situation changed in the second season. It turns out that Mechamaru colluded with the cursed spirits and betrayed the sorcerers. He did so because Kenjaku promised to help him regain his physical form. Despite the obvious negative connotation of his act, the audience finally felt the character's tragic story. Not least because of his emotional connection to Miwa!
Things could have been different, or not?
Mechamaru got what he wanted, but next came his battle with Mahito, in which he lost and was killed. However, he was aware of the villains' plans, and during the Shibuya incident, he informed Yuji of Gojo's capture. Furthermore, in the last episode, we learn that he planned a mission for his Kyoto Academy friends far away from Tokyo so that they wouldn't be sent to Shibuya. The logical question arises: could Mechamaru have warned Gojo about Kenjaku's plans, and why didn't he?
It seems that this isn't a plot assumption after all, but a very logical progression of events. Mechamaru was bound by a special oath, and one of the conditions was not to reveal the villains' plans. After the deal was struck, he immediately went into battle and had no way of contacting the sorcerers. The special puppets he used to contact Yuji had been prepared before the meeting with the cursed spirits in case of death. Since the oath was still in effect at that time, he couldn't break that condition.
