Laid-Back Camp S3 EP1 Review: Fans Worried for No Reason

The new character designs don’t look that weird.

Summary:

  • Laid-Back Camp S3 EP1 is already out.
  • Fans had concerns about new character designs.
  • However, the anime is as good as ever.

Before the third season for Laid-Back Camp (Yuru Camp△) aired, fans were very worried. The anime changing studios — and character designs — was something fans were really concerned about.

After the first episode aired, however, it turned out that the concerns have been practically baseless. The new character designs don’t make the anime worse, and it still looks mostly the same way as the first two seasons did.

Some Fans Had Concerns About New Character Designs

At first, the new character designs looked somewhat odd, especially for people who were used to the ones from the first two seasons and the movie.

As such, fans thought that the anime would suffer a significant downgrade in quality: after all, for a series like Laid-Back Camp, the overall cozy vibe is important. Getting used to new designs might make it harder to get into the mood for the anime.

Others, however, thought that the concerns were overblown. It’s not like Laid-Back Camp was known for amazing art or animation in the first place. In fact, the only thing about it that was really memorable to fans were the backgrounds.

The anime uses real-life photography with anime filters over it for its backgrounds, which gives it its own charm.

The Anime Is as Good as It Has Always Been

Turns out that the concerns about the anime being ruined because of the art style were indeed baseless. The changes weren’t as jarring as they looked in the first promotional material — in fact, they were practically unnoticeable.

The backgrounds, too, remain the same as they ever were. Laid-Back Camp Season 3 is just as good as the previous seasons, and fans are happy the new studio isn’t making any drastic changes.

As for the episode content, it is the same as always. If you’ve watched the first two seasons, you’d already know the humor of the anime. It’s the same as ever, and fans are happy to see it back.

The third season of Laid-Back Camp being successful with the fans makes them hopeful for an adaptation of another work by the author. Mono, another slice-of-life manga, but this time, focusing on photography, was announced to receive an adaptation recently.

While it is not made by the same studio, it still shows that producers in the industry care about the mangaka’s works.
