What can this mean for the schedule?
Summary:
- Mission: Yozakura Family has been confirmed to be 27 episodes long.
- Fans worry the last episodes might have to be delayed if the anime takes even one week off.
- However, everything will probably be fine.
As it has been confirmed before, Mission: Yozakura Family (Yozakura-san Chi no Daisakusen) is planned for two cours. However, we still haven’t had an official announcement about the exact length of the anime until now.
The Blu-Rays are listed for 27 episodes — which isn’t exactly the norm. Most of the time, two-cour anime run for 24-25 episodes; less commonly, for 23 or 26. 27 episodes isn’t exactly a normal number due to how time slots work on Japanese TV, and it’s especially odd for this particular series.
It Will Likely Run From April to Early October
Assuming Mission: Yozakura Family airs exactly one episode every week — with no breaks or recaps — it will finish on October 6. That means the last episode will essentially air after some Fall 2024 series have already started.
Note that it is not uncommon — Bucchigiri!? from the Winter 2024 season is ending on April 6 — but that anime started in mid-January and took a one-week break.
Some Fans Worry the Anime Will Have to Be Delayed
While fans are definitely happy about the anime getting a 27-episode run, some are concerned. If Mission: Yozakura Family has to take a break at some point, then the last episode or two might have to be delayed.
Considering how common production issues seem to be nowaday, fans are definitely concerned about the anime having to do a recap and then not fitting the rest of the episodes into an already tight schedule.
No one really wants a repetition of the situation with Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead (Zom 100: Zombie ni Naru made ni Shitai 100 no Koto), where by the time the last episodes aired, no one cared about the anime anymore.
It’s Probably Fine
Others say that the concerns are completely baseless. SILVER LINK is not a studio that is known for production issues — in fact, they have been consistent with their anime output for years.
It is also possible that the anime will air two episodes back to back at some point, ending the run in September, not in October.
A slightly longer than normal episode number also makes fans speculate. They’ve already been wondering what exactly the series will adapt — and it being scheduled for 27 episodes means the studio had planned a very specific stopping point.
Some also feel that with Yozakura Family being 27 episodes, and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Sousou no Frieren) recently being 28, more unusual episode counts will become more common. That said, these are just 2 examples — there’s nothing else to confirm that theory.
