The End is Near: Zom 100's Episodes 10-12 to Air Consecutively on December 25

They managed to squeeze into the time slot!

We covered the production disaster that is Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead (Zom 100: Zombie ni Naru made ni Shitai 100 no Koto) before, stating that because the studio wasn't able to deliver the finished episodes on time it ran out of the time slots reserved for the show and now has to wait for an opening.

And they finally found it: we'll be having a Christmas gift in the shape of the three final episodes of the show airing consecutively on December 25th. The episodes will air on Monday from 23:40 to 01:10: it's a late night time slot in Japan which is not used by anything relevant during the Christmas holidays.

Scheduling hopefully didn't kill the show

Due to the scheduling difficulties and release delays, the hype over the show has dissipated a bit in the West, but in Japan it stays extremely popular, so there's a possibility of a second season. The reason is the topic it covers: it's about an overworked person who lost his passion for his job and sees the zombie apocalypse as something that finally breaks his routine and allows him to feel freer than he ever was, prompting him to complete a bucket list of things he’s always wanted to do.

The show balances the grim and sad topics of the unrelenting rule of capitalism driving people insane with hilarity. This is one of those zombie apocalypse shows that focuses not on survival, but on getting the most out of the resulting chaos.

Mock and be mocked

The first episode was bombastic and held the bar pretty high, and the studio struggled to keep up with the same production quality which resulted in multiple delays that led to the show going into hiatus at the end of September.

The anime series based on the manga of the same name covers a work environment that is suspiciously similar to the one that a lot of anime studios have. Okay, not suspiciously; it openly mocks the management of the OLM Studio where the majority of the Bug Studio, the studio that makes Zom 100, previously worked. Sadly, Bug Studio themselves seemingly faced similar difficulties being too ambitious but, thankfully, they will be able to deliver the final episode of the show this year.
