More and More Meetings in 'Reincarnated as a Slime' Make Viewers Disappointed

Six episodes of talking and pretty much nothing else makes S3 very disappointing.

Summary:

  • Reincarnated as a Slime has non-stop strategy meetings in every episode.
  • This is not what people like Slime for.
  • The meetings part is almost over, and the arc will be over at the end of the first cour.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken) is considered one of the best isekai series of the past few years. It’s just fun to watch, and fans have been comparing it to a game like Civilization. After all, the protagonist essentially raises a country of his own. Despite that, it features a good amount of action to keep the viewers engaged — or at least, it used to.

The currently airing S3 of Reincarnated as a Slime does not currently have the warmest reception from the fans, though. While the anime always had some amount of politics, it’s getting a bit ridiculous now — so far, every episode of S3 has featured a meeting where characters are strategizing, with the plot hardly progressing at all.

Reincarnated as a Slime Is Not Supposed to Be So Dialogue-Heavy

Of course, dialogue-focused series aren’t necessarily bad. In fact, in many anime, the plot is actually driven by the dialogue. However, most of the time, isekai anime aren’t like that — the target audience wants action, not talking.

With Reincarnated as a Slime, it’s even worse. Yes, the anime already had a lot of dialogue, but it compensated for it by a lot of action, as well. It balanced these two aspects pretty much perfectly… until this season.

It’s Just Talking and More Talking

Every episode of Reincarnated as a Slime S3 so far was practically just non-stop talking. For the fans of the anime who haven’t read the original, it’s not really fun to watch in any way. They expect at least some action, especially because the PV actually showed a lot of it — so far, we had practically none.

Source material fans assure the anime-only viewers that the constant meetings are almost over. Still, what we’ve seen was already too much, even for a war arc that requires a lot of strategic decisions.

For Many, This Ruined the Series Completely

Now, viewers jokingly refer to Reincarnated as a Slime as “The Meeting Isekai,” as opposed to “The Slime Isekai.” An arc like that — even if it has a good completion — will not be remembered fondly, and the popularity of the anime might suffer.

That said, this arc will only last one cour, with the second cour adapting a completely different arc. Even if there was a lot of talking, it’s almost over, and if you already got through it, the rest should be much better.
