Murai in Love anime adaptation is scheduled for Fall 2024.
It will air on Disney+.
A new visual and video teaser are out.
Fans are unsure about the series exploring the romance between a teacher and a student.
Murai in Love (Murai no Koi) is a romantic comedy manga written and illustrated by Junta Shima. It was previously adapted into a television drama that aired in 2022, and now an anime adaptation is also on its way.
Murai in Love follows Tanaka, who is a high school teacher and a fan of otome games. Murai embodies one of the most popular high school fanfiction tropes, since he’s in love with the teacher.
The boy confesses his feelings to Tanaka, but is met with rejection. However, it doesn’t stop him, and the next day he transforms into a copy of Tanaka’s favorite game character.
Production details
The anime is scheduled for Fall 2024 on Disney+, and this is everything we know about the release date for now. The exact date is yet to be revealed.
The manga is already complete, so we expect a full adaptation of the series to come out, since it’s just 71 chapters and might even fit into one 2-cour season.
J.C.Staff studio is working on the anime adaptation and their list of works is full of such high-score anime romance and slice-of-life series as Toradora, Bakuman or Hi Score Girl. This gives us great hope that Murai in Love will also be successful and dearly loved by fans.
Yoshiki Yamakawa (Samurai Champloo, Mushishi) is directing the series, and Youko Hikasa (Pluto, Shaman King) and Kengo Takanashi (Dorohedoro, The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic) will voice the main leads in the anime.
A new teaser for Murai in Love has also been released and it promises a lot of hilarious comedy and weirdly exaggerated funny moments that we all love anime for.
Fans’ reaction
Since Murai in Love will focus on a teacher-student romance, fans think it will be off-putting for a lot of viewers. Age-gap relationships are not everyone’s cup of tea, and we can understand that.
But if such a dynamic doesn’t repel you, there’s a high chance that Murai in Love will become a very enjoyable and even fun experience.
Fans are also happy to learn that the project is not dead because it was previously announced back in 2022, and since then no one has heard much about it. But since the first trailer and a tentative release date are here, we have a feeling that there will be no silence this time.
