The Grimm Variations is Netflix’s upcoming original anime.
It’s based on six fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm.
The production team is very impressive.
The Grimm Variations (Grimm Kumikyoku) is an upcoming original anime by CLAMP and Wit Studio, scheduled for April 17, 2024. The series will release all 6 episodes on Netflix at once, and it will be a new interpretation of Grimm's fairy tales in an anime format.
Each of the 6 episodes will tell viewers one story, based on a particular fairy tale. We’ll get the chance to see a new take on Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Town Musicians of Bremen, and Pied Piper of Hamelin.
It seems like The Grimm Variations will be closer to the original scary vibe of the fairy tales than their wholesome Disney versions. There are “horror” and “suspense” genres in the anime, which makes the entire thing more exciting.
The official trailer for the anime was released a couple of weeks ago, and it provides a first look at all the episodes you’re going to see in the series. It’s packed with stunning but scary elements and is accompanied by the most fitting soundtrack.
It Deserves More Hype
Although the news about the series being in the works has been around for quite some time, there doesn’t seem to be much hype surrounding the project. But those who know about The Grimm Variations are extremely excited. The production team is packed with talent, so fans are expecting a great anime.
CLAMP is working on the character design and the series is animated by Wit. Fans admit that this is all they need to know to add The Grimm Variations to their watchlists.
The anime is giving off old-school gothic vibes in the best possible way. It feels like the project will be the right combination of curious, dark and scary. The decision to go with the original vibe of the folk tales is definitely a great one.
The character designs and animation we see in the trailer look on point. It’s just the right amount of fantasy and horror, and fans are hoping the actual series will be just as good. Choosing CLAMP for the character design was 100% fitting for such a project.
The Grimm Variations will air next week, and we can’t wait to finally see this new take on the stories we know so well. Most fans are very positive about the series so far. It does look promising, and it’s fair to suggest that something completely exciting is on they way.
