There are anime that could use a reboot. Let's talk about those.
A reboot is not a guaranteed success, but sometimes, we want a different retelling of the story for one reason or another. Here is a list of anime that could use a remake.
Soul Eater
Airing between 2008 and 2009, Soul Eater is a great anime about fighting evil with cool weapons that are also sentient. Unfortunately, the anime does not follow the manga to the letter. To be more precise, the ending was forced, and the manga was completed in 2013. Which means that now we have all the manga and can get a faithful adaptation, hopefully, in the near future. It will be tough, competing with the Soul Eater of 2008, but it is a necessary risk.
Claymore
Out in 2007, anime Claymore is about demons and half-demon hybrids fighting those demons. With manga ending in 2014, Claymore could not stay fully faithful to it, which is why Claymore is a wonderful candidate for a remake, one that follows the manga closely. The anime also received a lot of positive reviews, so hopefully, the new adaptation can compete.
Pandora Hearts
With manga finished in 2015, the 2009 anime adaptation of Pandora Hearts could not have followed the manga to the letter. It still includes some elements from the manga, including the strange imprisonment of the main hero, but this complicated plot needs a reboot in the form of animation so that it could follow the actual ending of the manga.
Promised Neverland (Season Two)
The second season of Promised Neverland has received mostly negative reviews because it was too rushed. A reboot of this story about a world where humans are raised as cattle for demons to consume would do justice to the incredibly interesting plot of the manga.
After War Gundam X (Kidō Shin Seiki Gandamu Ekkusu)
This is a case of a great anime that is just too out of date by now to be relevant – unless a remake is made. After War Gundam X is a 1996 anime, which is dedicated to a post-apocalyptic world where people struggle for survival and war might occur at any moment as governments attempt to rebuild themselves. It is an interesting plot, and it deserves a modern execution.
Fans always enjoy additional content, unless it is very bad, which is why rebooting anime that is a decade (or even decades) old makes sense. Additionally, anime that did not do too well could get a second change in the form of a reboot. Let us hope that the remakes are good and not a simple cash grab.
