One Punch Man Season 3 Reveals Trailer and Studio, and Fans Are Furious

Yeah, it’s J.C.Staff again.

Summary:

  • One Punch Man S3 reveals a new key visual and trailer — and fans are upset about the studio being J.C.Staff again.
  • The studio was responsible for S2, but this time, the production might or might not be better.
  • Ultimately, there’s just too little information to judge the anime.

Fans have been waiting for any news about One Punch Man Season 3 for quite a while now. After all, there have been no updates since 2022. The anime — including the studio — has been speculated on for a while. Well, we got a key visual and a trailer — and fans are very unhappy about them.

The studio is J.C.Staff

At first glance, there’s nothing wrong with them. The key visual is a bit bland, but not egregiously bad. The animation in the trailer looks decent — nothing like the amazing action scenes we’ve seen in S1, but still decent. That said, we got the studio revealed for the anime, and it’s J.C.Staff again.

J.C.Staff has already worked on One Punch Man before — specifically, on its second season. S2 of OPM was one of the most disliked anime sequels at the time due to being a significant downgrade from the first season.

While the animation in it wasn’t as bad as people made it out to be, it still couldn’t compare to that of the first season. Naturally, people are upset about the studio returning to work on the anime, as they feel their previous attempt was very subpar.

Why it might not be as bad as S2

That said, this time they are a bit more optimistic. Back when S2 aired, J.C.Staff was swarmed with other high-priority projects, most importantly, the movie for KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!).

As a result, the second season received less resources than fans wanted. At the moment, One Punch Man is by far the biggest property they are working on.

However, there are still huge concerns. While the anime spending multiple years in development might mean the studio had more time to work on it, it can also mean that it was stuck in development hell.

There’s no information on the director as well, and fans are already speculating there was a change in directors midway, resulting in an even messier production.

Too early to talk about it

In the end, it’s still too early to judge the anime. The trailer looked fine — not the best ever but definitely better than S2. J.C.Staff has proven themselves to be able to produce series with great animation, even in recent years — the third season of A Certain Scientific Railgun (Toaru Kagaku no Railgun) comes to mind.

Ultimately, without any information we can only speculate. There’s no release date yet, and at least that fact gives people slight hopes.

Yeah, it’s J.C.Staff again.
