Ragna Crimson’s Hierarchy of Dragon Weaknesses (Spoiler: They Could as Well Be Vampires)

In the latest episode of Ragna Crimson, Crimson commented on dragon weaknesses, which, frankly, make them very similar to vampires.

Ragna Crimson spoilers ahead!

Summary

  • Fans who have been watching the anime since the beginning already know that dragons in Ragna Crimson have two weaknesses: silver and sunlight.
  • Crimson points out that silver freezes the magic inside the dragon, which fans didn’t know before.
  • Crimson also notes that arrogance is an extremely common dragon weakness, one that actually helped to defeat Disas.

Ragna Crimson’s episode 4 is about defeating Disas, a dragon who considers himself one with the wind. While talking about the things that helped to defeat the creature, Crimson comments on his arrogance as a primary cause.

Arrogance

Indeed, Disas was both powerful and arrogant. He was also fond of speeches, which, to fans’ delight, were cut off by the credits, leaving the arrogant dragon’s monologue to continue behind the scenes. He was, in the end, defeated because he considered humans too weak and did not transform into his dragon form, which would have been much more powerful. Crimson admits that he even over-prepared just in case Disas would have the time to turn into his dragon form, which, fortunately, never happened.

Not All Dragons

The anime suggests that not all dragons have an extremely large ego. For example, First Monarch Ultimatia, who is an extremely powerful dragon with the wings of an angel and who serves the Dragon God, seems to be extremely well-mannered and almost too kind to be doing what she is doing (which is herding humans into one city to quickly and apparently painlessly kill them). However, fans of the show point out that her being nice doesn't stop her from being absolutely terrifying.

Silver and Sun

While the anime has yet to explain why the sun is dangerous to dragons, it did offer an explanation for silver being deadly. Crimson says that it’s not dragon flesh but dragon magic that gets frozen because of silver. That is why the wind of Disas was also affected by silver; it was a magical hurricane, and silver disrupted it.

It’s worth noting that not all dragons are affected by the sun, though. A lot of them, especially higher-ranking ones, are too powerful. For example, Ultimatia confessed to feeling a little hot under the sun-powered shields of the city. But she was able to overcome that minor inconvenience, which is why the sun is less strong than the other two weaknesses Crimson commented on. In the end, all the weaknesses of Ragna Crimson dragons seem to make them very similar to vampires.
