Sasaki and Peeps, a 2024 anime about a pet bird being someone else, has a brand-new key visual and PV for us to enjoy!
Summary
Sasaki and Peeps is about a pet bird that turns out to be a sage from another world.
The anime is based on a light novel and will air in January 2024.
Some fans are cautious, especially because the key visual has some strange choices, but the PV comments are mostly positive.
Sasaki and Peeps
Sasaki and Peeps (Sasaki to Pii-chan) is a light novel that is still ongoing. It’s about a simple salaryman Sasaki, who purchases a pet java sparrow Peeps, hoping it would help him feel less lonely. However, the bird turns out to be a sage from a different world! Peeps gives Sasaki new interesting powers and the ability to walk between dimensions. Unfortunately, Peeps also attracts unwanted attention, which guarantees that Sasaki’s life will never be boring again!
The anime based on the novel is just around the corner and will air in January 2024.
The Key Visual, PV and Fan Reaction
The key visual didn’t satisfy some fans, though. It has a rather unique feel to it that almost makes you dizzy. Of course, the visual is supposed to represent the different worlds now open to Sasaki, and it probably achieves the desired effect. A major issue though is that Peeps is barely visible! As one of the main, titular characters, he could have gotten a more prominent position than the many side characters in the visual. It’s just unfair that such an adorable bird gets so little attention. Just look at him in the PV! Those starry eyes won’t leave you indifferent.
The PV promises a show with a fair share of comedy and action, as well as some slice of life, and the animation looks great! While fans didn’t say many positive things about the visual, the PV did get positive comments. Some of them pointed out the unusual premise as a strong point of the anime: after all, it’s a reverse isekai, where Peeps comes from a different world into ours.
Unfortunately, some people who read the source material claim that the novel doesn’t live up to the full potential of the premise. Hopefully, the anime will not stumble in a similar manner. We love the premise, and we hope for a high-quality execution in the upcoming anime series.
