It's time to pay tribute to the greatest sorcerer of the generation.
The best sorcerer of our time – Gojo Satoru – the flagship character of the recently concluded Jujutsu Kaisen for which a huge number of fans decided to read the manga and watch the anime.
It's time to find out what's behind the teacher's facade and why it's high time for everyone to thank Satoru for the very fact of his existence.
The following text contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga and anime.
Satoru Is the Loneliest Character of All
Gojo is the most tragic and underestimated character in Jujutsu Kaisen. His pain is accompanied by such boundless power that he has been unable to find an equal, let alone someone who fully understands him.
From the beginning of the story, he is the strongest shaman, whose abilities make him unattainable for friends and foes alike. Satoru's power became an obstacle to normal relationships and led to loneliness.
The turning point, however, was the shaman's imprisonment, which left his disciples without their strongest protector and revealed the tragic nature of Gojo's psychology – despite all his power, he was unable to protect those he loved, and upon his release, he was not himself.
Satoru Didn't Even Get a Proper Farewell
Satoru understands that no matter how strong he is, he cannot change the world on his own. Moreover, his death was so unexpected and devastating that it probably left his friends and disciples in shock.
Yet Gege Akutami does not even show Gojo's funeral. Death without a farewell adds to the tragedy – the man who was a symbol of invincibility died, and no one could or would openly honor his memory.
At the end of his life, Satoru is a weapon, not a person, so his last words to Itadori about his personal dreams and plans are completely heartbreaking.
Satoru Single-Handedly Changed the Sorcerers' World
Satoru is a revolutionary figure in the sorcerers' world. With his unique abilities, he daily changes the order that has governed the world of shamans for centuries.
As the most powerful shaman of his time, he embodies the ideal of freedom from outdated traditions that create a strict hierarchy in this world. Gojo not only expanded the boundaries of power, but also changed the very rules by which the world operates.
Satoru was able to train a new generation of shamans who were willing to fight not only curses, but also the established system, supporting the idea that strength and will should be used to protect people.
He realized that in order to win, it was not only necessary to increase the number of shamans, but also to create free-thinking people who were willing to question and improve the existing order.
At the same time, he fought not only for himself and his own ego, but also for ordinary people who never appreciated Gojo's contribution to their own existence.
Satoru Deserves to Be Remembered for Everything He Did
When the fandom asks what Satoru should be thanked for, one would like to answer: for everything. For his boundless power that made him live alone, for his attempt to change the established order, and for a new generation of shamans with critical thinking and faith in the best.
We wish Gege Akutami would at least thank his own character with a small bonus frame, with a quiet funeral, worthy of all that Satoru has done for the world.
