Should You Watch Inuyashiki?

One Piece fan vs. flying old man.

Inuyashiki tells us a story of two people becoming some sort of superhuman cyborgs by accident. Ichiro Inuyashiki is an old man going through difficult times, and as if family issues and back problems aren’t enough, he finds out he also has stomach cancer and his life is going to be over soon. Hiro Shishigami is just an average school student and a One Piece manga fan. Inuyashiki follows these two men and explores the contrast between their actions and intentions after receiving their new powers.

Despite being a cyborg now, Ichiro doesn’t want to lose his humanity. The extraterrestrial being saved his life, and this is exactly what he is going to do to other people now. The newly acquired powers give him the level of courage he’s never had, and he’s about to use everything he has to make other people’s lives better.

Hiro, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. The boy is selfish, cruel and bored. His family and school issues and his frustration with life and bullies have made him sociopathic, and now that he’s given the gift of intense powers, he is willing to use them to make him feel alive. Hiro murders people that annoy him and doesn’t really feel any regret about that.

Whether they’re bored by a regular old man or disgusted by an egocentric teenager, fans say the story is the strongest point of the series, and it’s intriguing to watch both of the characters, and their stories really make you feel. Besides, we’re sure Hiro’s ruthless behavior will make you think more than once about human nature and the consequences of people’s actions.

The pacing is also one of the things fans mention when speaking about advantages of the story. Every part of it is right where it should be and the show doesn’t get boring along the way.

The animation and art style of the show are quite a controversial discussion topic among the fans. Some of them enjoy the style and CGI, while others mention it being pretty mediocre. The character design of the series is not everyone’s cup of tea, so it might take you some time to get used to it.

Overall, Inuyashiki has received mostly positive reviews and fans are sure that you should give it a try to see if this particular good-versus-evil story works for you.
