It is a small detail, but it is strange enough for us to wonder what happened to Zoe when he was breaking the werewolf’s curse.

Summary
- In Ep. 9, Zoe stays back to stop the werewolf, even though it is clearly difficult for him.
- At some point, his body and eyes change, and he manages to free the werewolf of the curse.

While a minor detail in Episode 9, Zoe’s sudden transformation is very interesting. It clearly grants him special powers. Right before the transformation, Zoe notices that the werewolf’s mind is twisted. Then he seems to transform into something different that can free the werewolf from the curse that held her. Is that what Gorgon powers look like?

We do not know a lot about Gorgons. In the First Part of Season 2, we learn that Zoe’s mother was a Gorgon and that Gorgons have very valuable body parts. In other words, they are endangered. However, we never knew that Gorgons can lift curses.
Zoe’s transformation might be an awakening of his powers of some sort. After all, he says that he turns the curse to stone and destroys it, which sounds like a Gorgon thing to do. However, after the curse is gone, Zoe is back to normal, unsure what happened. It does not seem like the awakening lasted, and it is not clear if Zoe can do it again.
Zaccheroni
Nobody in the fandom trusts Zaccheroni, and we probably should not after his exchange with Chise when he apparently tried to charm her. Zaccheroni was left behind with Zoe to deal with the werewolf, but he did not help at all. Or did he?
It is possible that Zaccheroni did something that made Zoe transform. There is little evidence of that. After all, Zaccheroni was just hiding behind a tree, leaving Zoe to deal with the werewolf. He only stands there and smiles, but it is enough for us to think that he could have cast some sort of spell on Zoe.
Let’s just hope that Zaccheroni does not hurt the poor boy. After all, Gorgon body parts are valuable, and Zaccheroni cannot be trusted.
