  • Ep.6 supports early fan speculations that the Empress is a witch.
  • Her name is Dorothea, and she has the same powers of love as Doroka.

Episode 6 proves some early fan guesses correct; the Empress is a witch. Her name is Dorothea, and she has the love powers that Doroka has, which look more like mind control. All of that, along with her admission that she hops between dimensions, has fans convinced that she is a Doroka from a different dimension. She seems to be obsessed with Adonis and even has a shrine dedicated to him, which makes fans think she is a yandere.

It looks like Dorothea had been keeping the Emperor under her control. Since witches can sense her magic and cannot be forced to obey her like humans, she convinced the Emperor to kill all the witches. That is how the anime explains its whole premise, but fans are not convinced.

We Can Make It Work

Dorothea seems unhinged to the viewers, which might explain her plan of killing all the witches. Her traveling between dimensions or time could also explain the empire’s fast technological advancements, as Dorothea could have brought technology from other dimensions. It can even be used to explain why Adonis was freed; after all, in the second episode, it is highlighted that the phone Doroka had could not open Adonis’ pod.

However, some things do not appear right, and the most important of them, according to the fans, is the magic-canceling device. The Emperor has definitely been next to it; it even made him sick. Wouldn't that cancel out Dorothea’s powers? How did she avoid the machine herself; would it not affect her as well? There can be explanations; for example, the Emperor had wanted to end witches anyway and Dorothea married him later. But since killing the witches was her plan, it does not quite make sense.

Dorothea can be used to make the series work. At the very least, she gets fans theorizing. But there are some issues or missing elements that we cannot explain just by including Dorothea. Hopefully the anime has other missing pieces to make it make sense.
