Top 10 Most Bizarre Stands in JoJo, Ranked

Top 10 Most Bizarre Stands in JoJo, Ranked

Some of these aren’t even explained in-universe.

Spoilers ahead!

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken) is often remembered for Stands — supernatural abilities which manifest in different ways. Some are straightforward, and some are less so. Then there are some that are just completely bizarre and incomprehensible, making fans wonder how Hirohiko Araki even came up with them.

10. Bastet (Part 3)

 - image 1

While Stands were mostly tame in Part 3, where they were introduced, it can’t be said about all of them. The most unusual one is Bastet, which has one of the strangest abilities, which has pretty much nothing to do with the user’s personality or the Egyptian cat goddess.

Instead, it creates electrical outlets on any solid surface, and those who touch them become living magnets. And no one knows why exactly.

9. Jail House Lock (Part 6)

 - image 2

Jail House Lock sounds like a weak Stand at first, but it’s anything but that in reality. After it touches you, you won’t be able to retain any new information — it restricts the user to only remembering three new things at a time.

Learned something new, even accidentally? You forget one of the things you previously learned. That includes randomly hearing conversations or seeing things, and victims slowly go insane from the amount of new information.

8. Sky High (Part 6)

 - image 3

Part 6 is actually full of unusual Stands with incomprehensible abilities.

Sky High is one of those, and it allows the user to control a swarm of invisible insect-like creatures who can cripple others or enhance the user’s physique. They do that in a variety of ways, including stealing body heat and directly injuring the user’s enemies.

7. Super Fly (Part 4)

 - image 4

The whole existence of Super Fly is probably a reference to a Stand in Part 3. Just how Tower of Gray is a flying insect, Super Fly is a transmission tower.

It’s not a useful Stand, though: its existence is actually detrimental to the user, trapping them to live within it. The only way to escape is to let someone else be trapped inside.

6. Baby Face (Part 5)

 - image 5

This is perhaps the creepiest Stand in the series, and the user certainly doesn’t help. Melone is so creepy towards women that even his squadmates, some of the most depraved killers, consider him disgusting.

His Stand makes it worse — Baby Face is a computer that is able to magically impregnate the woman with a secondary Stand, which Melone uses to track down and kill his enemies. Yikes.

5. Civil War (Part 7)

 - image 6

JoJo has a variety of Stands that work off human emotions, but none are as weird as Civil War, a Stand of Axl RO, one of the antagonists in Part 7.

It doesn’t even do anything in combat — its purpose is to manifest the guilt of others into objects, which then can be used to harm the target. The more guilt the person feels, the stronger Civil War becomes.

4. Weather Report (Part 6)

 - image 7

On paper, Weather Report doesn’t sound like a complicated Stand. It allows the user (who also uses the name Weather Report, though it’s an alias) to control the weather, which he does in some very smart ways. However, it’s another hidden ability of the Stand that makes it so weird.

Heavy Weather is a sub-ability of Weather Report that turns people and other creatures into snails. Yes, snails. No one in the universe knows why it’s exactly snails, and while there’s an explanation about how that actually works, it doesn’t sound very convincing.

3. Notorious B.I.G (Part 5)

 - image 8

We’ve seen Stands without a user, like Anubis. We’ve seen Stands that change their user, like Cheap Trick and the aforementioned Super Fly. Still, Part 5 has a Stand that is unlike anything else. Notorious B.I.G doesn’t even activate until its user is dead — after which, it’s impossible to kill because the user is already dead.

Once activated, this Stand will consume everything, tracking the fastest moving object in the near vicinity. It’s literally indestructible, and the protagonists managed to shake it off, but not defeat it.

As with most Stands, it references a musician — and here, the reference is multi-layered, as “Life After Death” is an album by The Notorious B.I.G, one of the most iconic rappers of the 90s.

2. Enigma (Part 4)

 - image 9

The second half of Part 4 is where Stands have started to become weird. Like, really weird. And the weirdest example of that is definitely Enigma, which is a Stand that’s completely useless in combat.

It allows its user to seal others into paper and then release them by unfolding it, as well as transforming himself into paper… only, for the first part to actually work, its user has to fulfill certain conditions.

Terunosuke Miyamoto, also known as Enigma Boy, has to, first, observe others and figure out how they act when they are afraid. Only after seeing their habits during the state of fear and observing them one more time, he can seal them into paper. The thing is, he’s scarily good at actually fighting people.

1. Fun Fun Fun (Part 8)

 - image 10

Thought Enigma had too many conditions to be activated? Meet Fun Fun Fun, the most bizarre Stand in the already bizarre Part 8 of the series. Its user has to be physically above the target, which has to be injured — and even then, that’s not even all the prerequisites for the ability to work.

The blood from the injury slowly creates marks on the victim’s body, which allow the user to control the marked limbs, but not anything else (so they can still talk and move their shoulders). And, of course, the ability stops working if the user is not above the victim or if they lose track of the victim's movement. Fans wonder how Araki even came up with this.

Some of these aren’t even explained in-universe.
