We Need Dorohedoro Season 2 ASAP

We're just getting started!

Dorohedoro is an anime series based on the thankfully finished manga series under the same title created by Q Hayashida. The first season of the series consisting of 13 episodes was released on Netflix in 2020, and we can't wait for the second one.

Some of the most impatient ones who got hooked up on the series dived into the manga and were met with even more gruesome action and diverging yet entwining plot lines than the first season teased. The story of Dorohedoro is not as simple as it may seem at first glance, there is a certain subtext that becomes more tangible and more horrifying as the story proceeds, and seeing it unravel in the animated form would be a blast.

The first season adopted only 40 chapters out of 167, perfectly replicating the guttural, vicious, and sometimes disturbing art style of Q Hayashida in color with added movement. The part that was already animated can be considered merely a prologue, a setup, because the real action starts right after the season's finale.

This supernatural mystery action series follows Kaiman, a huge dude who lost his memories but in return gains a crocodile head, and Nikaido, his best friend and a trusty provider of tasty gyoza who ended up having some secrets of her own. They are embarking together on the journey of uncovering the mystery of Kaiman's head, also pursuing their own goals.

Dorohedoro was animated by Mappa, the studio that's been mentioned in the news titles for the past few years way too often because of their big projects. And now the majority of the staff are busy with other projects: Mappa releases banger after banger, and keeping up with this production quality wouldn't be easy. So probably they would be able to start working on the next season of Dorohedoro after all the projects they already announced grace the screens of the viewers, which would probably happen sometime around 2025. And it takes about three years to create a 12-episode season with this level of animation and art quality. Can't wait for Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen to finish. However, now we have another reason for that.

There is, however, a possibility that Netflix, in its typical Netflix fashion, will deem the project unpopular and shelve it, but we hope that is not the case. We need to see all the gyoza that Nikaido makes in their juiciest, fiercest glory.
