Will We Finally Get a Confession in The Dangers in My Heart Season 2?

Will We Finally Get a Confession in The Dangers in My Heart Season 2?

They really are one of the cutest couples in recent anime.

Manga spoilers ahead!

Summary:

  • Viewers of The Dangers in My Heart are wondering when we’ll get a confession episode — and when the characters will start dating.
  • Both are likely to happen in S2, and the anime will probably end with them becoming a couple.
  • While that’s a bit cliché, the manga doesn’t end there.

The Dangers in My Heart (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu) has evolved from just another romantic comedy to one of the most beloved series this season. Despite a questionable start, the series manages to redeem itself later. The leads are both very likable, and the anime portrays the middle school romance fairly realistically.

As it usually happens with anime like this, however, fans begin to ask questions. Naturally, the first question that comes to mind is: when are we going to get an actual confession? And what happens after that? Does the anime continue after the characters start dating? To answer these questions, we first need to take a look at the source material.

The pacing of the anime

The first season of the anime ends around Chapter 57. That doesn’t mean it adapts all these chapters in 12 episodes, of course. As it often happens with romcom manga, a lot of chapters (with little to no progression) were skipped to accommodate better for the anime pacing.

That doesn’t mean the anime is necessarily worse or better than the manga — rather, it’s a different experience. Manga chapters are fairly short, while the anime has to conform to the 24-minute episode format.

When do the protagonists start dating?

As for whether or not we are getting a confession in S2, the answer is more complicated than it might seem. We already got an almost-confession in the last episode, and it looks like the anime has actual romantic progress.

In the manga, Ichikawa realizes Yamada likes him in Chapter 85 — which this season will definitely cover in the next few episodes. And yes, of course, they start dating later, in Chapter 113, to be precise. Many fans speculate that the anime will end at that point, which, to some, would be a perfect way to end it.

What will happen in the anime?

On the one hand, romance anime ending with the couple finally getting together is somewhat cliché. After all, this is exactly what the viewers expect, and they basically accepted the fact it will happen at some point. Some fans feel like they want to see the couple together as well and not end the anime instantly when said couple becomes a thing.

This is not a guaranteed ending for The Dangers in My Heart, but it’s a very likely one. However, the anime is quite successful — nothing stops it from receiving another season. Or even a spin-off covering the missing chapters, like it happened with Horimiya: Piece.

And, if you want to see the protagonists going through with their dating life, you can just read the manga.
