- Fans are upset by the lack of diversity.
Anime Corner’s Winter 2024 Awards are over, and we’d like to congratulate all The Dangers in My Heart (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu) fans, since their series absolutely dominated the awards.
Nominations Are Becoming Less Diverse
The Dangers in My Heart won 13 nominations, including Anime of the Season. Season 2 of the anime finished airing a bit over a week ago, so this is definitely something to cheer fans up while they're sad that the series is on a break.
Kyotaro and Anna also became the Best Girl and Boy of the season, and their duo is the Best Ship or Couple.
However, all the other fans are confused by the results. There’s no doubt that The Dangers in My Heart is a wonderful series, and its Season 2 was even better than the first one, the ratings are skyrocketing and viewers love the show tremendously. But what about other anime?
A similar thing happened at Crunchyroll’s Anime Awards, where Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 won every other category. The repetitiveness of the awards is getting out of hand, and it’s upsetting and annoying to so many fans.
There have been so many outstanding series this year already, and while The Dangers in My Heart is definitely one of the best, others deserve their fair share of attention as well. If just one series keeps winning everything, it’s not fun anymore.
Of course, anime fans will still be angry and upset. If their favorite show doesn’t win much, they think it’s unfair. And when one show wins this many awards, it’s just frustrating.
Others Deserved a Win Too
Fans were especially unsatisfied with the choices for Best Male and Female Seiyuu . Both went to The Dangers in My Heart, of course, but people disagree.
They are confident: Taito Ban (Solo Leveling ― Sung Jinwoo) should’ve won Best Male Seiyuu and Aoi Yuki (The Apothecary Diaries ― Maomao) should've won Best Female one. Their work this season has been incredible, and they should have received more recognition.
Solo Leveling fans are especially upset about the results, since their series only won Best Action. It’s one of the biggest anime of the year, and to get this little appreciation makes fans feel robbed.
Some other categories were also surprising. While it’s no wonder that Ninja Kamui became Best Original Anime of the season, fans were puzzled to learn that Metallic Rouge was the runner-up. It’s much easier to find people calling it disappointing than praising it online, so the result is frustrating.
