10 Anime to Watch in January 2024

January is going to be awesome!

With December coming to an end, it’s time to look forward to something new.

Solo Leveling (Ore dake Level Up na Ken)

One of the promised bangers of the next year. Its international release date is set to January 7, but there are already lucky ones who’ve experienced the first episodes of Solo Leveling. And they tell us this anime is definitely something to look forward to.

Solo Leveling explores the world where “the Gate” appeared, connecting the human world to the one of monsters. Sung Jin-Woo is a monster hunter, but he’s notorious for being the weakest one of them. Until one day he gets the chance to become the strongest.

The Witch and the Beast (Majo to Yajuu)

If April is too far away for you but you’re craving for some Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) vibes right now, The Witch and the Beast might be just the series for you.

Scheduled for January 12, it will follow Guideau and Ashaf, whose duo seems very promising. A fierce girl who hates witches and a mage of “The Order of Magical Resonance” work together to solve magical mysteries and crimes while trying to find the witch that cursed Guideau.

Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation (Monsters: Ippyaku Sanjou Hiryuu Jigoku)

What a wonderful time to be a One Piece fan, are we right? The remake of One Piece is not the only thing you should be excited about now, since Eiichiro Oda’s Monsters anime adaptation is scheduled for January, too.

Years ago, a village was destroyed by a frightening dragon, and the only survivors were a little girl, Flare, and her savior, swordsman Cyrano. Meanwhile, a mysterious relic, a Dragon Horn that is said to allow one to control dragons, and that was stolen years ago is about to appear again.

Fluffy Paradise (Isekai de Mofumofu Nadenade suru Tame ni Ganbattemasu)

If the fact of how masterfully the anime title is translated into English (are translators also tired of all that long names?) doesn’t make you smile, the series itself definitely will. The cuteness is coming January 1.

Akitsu Midori is the most relatable 27-year-old woman because she dies of overworking. But fear not, she’s going to be reincarnated into a body of a little girl with the most awesome superpower imaginable: to be loved by all non-human beings. And now she can’t waste any time because there are plenty of tigers and dragons to pet.

Metallic Rouge

If you’re still missing Pluto, January 11 (which is the release date of Metallic Rouge) has got your back!

The series explores the world where humans coexist with androids. Rouge is an android girl, who is on a mission on Mars with her partner Naomi. They’re tasked by the government to murder nine hostile artificial humans who possess the latent potential to surpass humanity.

Delicious in Dungeon (Dungeon Meshi)

We know some of you must love cooking, but what about cooking monsters? In a dungeon? Let’s wait for January 4 to find out!

This fantasy comedy follows a group of explorers that got stuck in a dungeon. They have to get food somehow, don’t they? That’s why they decide to find it within the dungeon and eat a couple of creatures that live there. They also encounter a dwarf named Senshi, who teaches them the monster cooking art and expresses his desire to cook a dragon.

Tales of Wedding Rings (Kekkon Yubiwa Monogatari)

The name itself puts you in a romantic mood, and this is a good thing, right? This series is scheduled for January 6, and we can’t wait to watch another anime romance.

Tales of Wedding Rings starts in a regular world but turns into an isekai pretty quickly. Satou has been in love with his childhood friend and neighbor, Hime, but he has no idea that her grandpa and she are from another world. Satou chooses a bad moment to declare his feelings for the girl, and gets dragged into a fantasy world along with Hime.

Ishura

If you still can’t get over how terrible the finale of Game of Thrones was, you will have a chance to feel the vibes of that series in Ishura that’s coming on January 3.

The Demon King is dead. No one knows the name of a hero that defeated him or even if the said hero still exists. Now several demigods capable of defeating him have inherited the world, and a battle royale for the title of the True Hero begins.

Sasaki and Peeps (Sasaki to Pii-chan)

Another isekai involving animals is on its way, and we can’t be more hyped. Sasaki and Peeps is scheduled for January 5, so mark your calendars.

Sasaki is a lonely and tired middle-aged man, who’s longing for a companion. And what is the quickest and best way of achieving that? Visiting a pet shop, of course. He acquires a cute bird, which turns out to be Peeps, who grants Sasaki the ability to travel between worlds.

Chained Soldier (Mato Seihei no Slave)

If you’re missing Akame ga Kill!, this might be your chance to change that, since both series are written by Takahiro.

Chained Soldier explores the world where dimensions called Mato exist. These dimensions can send hideous monsters to attack humans, but they can also grant supernatural powers to women (exclusively), which makes them masterful defenders against the monsters. When Yuuki Wakura suddenly finds himself in Mato, Kyouka is the one to save him, but he has to become her slave to get them out of it alive.
