Let’s remember them together. And cry some more, of course!
Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) might not be the most emotional experience you’ve ever had, but it does a lot of things right to make you truly feel for the characters and worry about their fates.
So let’s remember some of the moments that made us care and even shed a tear or two. No worries, though, there won’t be any manga spoilers, we’ve decided to include only anime moments in this one.
Rengoku’s death
No words can describe how much we feel for this character. Rengoku was incredibly cheerful and vivid. He can be compared to the Sun: bright, warm and glowing every time he’s on the screen. Rengoku’s enthusiasm is something to be jealous of, and such a pure heart is a rare gem.
Rengoku’s fight with Akaza was intense, and we have to admit that, just for a second, we thought that he might win. But it was never meant to happen, and a cruel demon took our favorite sunshine from us. His farewell was extremely upsetting and even thinking about it makes us emotional all over again.
Nezuko speaks again
When a simple “Good morning” is enough to make you cry like a little kid.
Nezuko spent three seasons being silent (except for flashbacks, of course), and we didn’t even think there would come a moment when we hear her speak in her demon form.
But Season 3 is full of surprises, and not only does she survive the sunlight, but she also loses the bamboo muzzle and utters her “first word.” We are simple people, we don’t need much to be touched.
Daki and Gyutaro
Despite hating them for much of Season 2, fans started changing their minds after watching their backstory. The way they care about each other is incredible, and the horrors they had to go through are heart wrenching.
Daki and Gyutaro’s conversation after their deaths is another reason why we can’t hold back our tears. Gyutaro saying that he wishes his sister had a better life is extremely touching. And Daki not wanting to leave her brother no matter what is when we opened a new pack of tissues.
Rui’s death
Another demon that seemed completely repulsive at first but became more human after his backstory was told.
Rui was a very disturbed individual, and this is what made him a true monster. But if we look closely, we’ll see that all he’s ever wanted was to create bonds with somebody. Rui longed for family and care, and while his methods of achieving that were questionable, the idea was fairly relatable.
