The third season has been more well-received than many initially expected.
Blue Exorcist (Ao no Exorcist) came back in 2024 after many years without sequels, and, surprisingly, fans are still following it.
That said, watching a series like that weekly has its downsides, and the main one is: you just can’t wait for more. Thankfully, Crunchyroll has a varied selection of anime, and if you are enjoying Blue Exorcist, you might like these 5 series.
Of course, if you still haven’t seen Jujutsu Kaisen, you probably need to change that. There’s a reason it got so popular, and the anime is very much worth it: the action is spectacular, and the plot is full of plot twists that will leave you speechless.
This recommendation becomes even better if you like Blue Exorcist. Both are battle shounen anime where demons play a very prominent role, and while Jujutsu Kaisen is a darker take on the genre, it still has enough fun moments.
Bleach is considered one of the Big Three for a reason. Along with Naruto and One Piece, it is an iconic long-running battle shounen that reshaped the entire genre. Of the three, it is perhaps the closest to Blue Exorcist, also dealing with spirits and hell on multiple occasions.
Both anime also feature a lot of swordplay, and if you like that aspect in one, you’d probably like it in the other.
While Bungo Stray Dogs has a completely different story, there are enough common elements to make it somewhat similar to Blue Exorcist. Both are urban fantasy anime with a protagonist who is initially an outcast — but who proceeds to find a group which accepts him.
Bungo Stray Dogs, of course, often focuses on detective elements over its fights. That said, it does have a very cool and unusual power system. Also, just like Blue Exorcist, it features a decent amount of comedy to otherwise lighten the mood.
Noragami used to be a go-to recommendation for action-comedy anime. The lack of a third season made it somewhat forgotten now, but even with just two cours, it is very much worth watching.
Just like Blue Exorcist, it features a huge amount of references to mythology, and once again, both protagonists wield a sword in battle.
Servamp
Servamp is a short and somewhat forgotten anime from 2016. If you want something with a theme of supernatural entities which also slowly explores their world, it is a good recommendation.
The series also features a good mix of comedy and action. While not exactly popular, Servamp is still very much worth watching — the fights are surprisingly cool, and its take on vampires is not one you see in anime very often.
