Why are they so obsessed?

We’re sure you know the type: a villain who just can’t let a hero go. It doesn’t matter if they simply have a personal interest or if they want to corrupt the hero and turn them to the dark side, the infatuation can become a bit too powerful. So let’s look at some of such villains.

This series has even more than one villain like that. Mahito put his eye on Nanami the first time they met, he praised his powers and enjoyed their encounters. Although Mahito’s main purpose was to kill Nanami, unfortunately, it was interesting to watch them fight and try to defeat each other.

The King of Curses himself, Sukuna, is also on our list. His interest in Megumi cannot be left unnoticed. Sukuna could have killed the sorcerer on a couple of occasions, but let him go. And Season 2 proved that it wasn’t just curiosity: Sukuna admits to having grandiose plans for Megumi.

Trying to outsmart L was Light’s strongest desire. The detective was the only one Light deemed somewhat equal to himself, the only one he could respect. He had to use all the intelligence and manipulation abilities he had to overcome L, and was gloating when he finally managed to get L killed.

Light was obsessed with L even long after his death, and one of the deleted scenes from the anime showed him visiting L’s grave and laughing maniacally. It truly meant a lot for him to defeat L.

Esdeath was deeply in love with Tatsumi and even obsessed with him. She thought of him as her property and wanted him to reciprocate her feelings. Esdeath’s infatuation was capable of making her do anything for Tatsumi, and it was absolutely frightening.

She didn’t just want him to love her back, she wanted to control and possess him. This type of love would be terrifying even if it were coming from a good person, but a sadistic murderer feeling this way? Yikes!
