Season 1 was incredible after all.
Fans usually remember The Promised Neverland (Yakusoku no Neverland) when it’s time to talk about the most disappointing anime or when they need to express how much they hated the second season of the series. But that’s just unfair.
The first season of The Promised Neverland was outstanding, and no matter what happened next, we remember this anime as one of the greatest ever. That’s why we’d like to remind you of some of the best Season 1 moments, so that you’ll never forget why you fell in love with the series.
- Emma and Norman learn the truth
The Promised Neverland does have a very strong start. And its ending is executed masterfully.
Remember that sinister atmosphere and suspense? You just knew that Emma and Norman were about to learn something frighteningly terrible, and that is exactly what happened.
- “Ray is the traitor” reveal
We have to be honest, we didn’t see this plot twist coming. Norman showed the true power of his intelligence and managed to trick even such a masterful manipulator as Ray.
Ray’s reaction was also amazing. He didn’t deny anything, he just laughed and confessed. Such an excellent scene!
- Emma catching the burning match
Everything leading up to this scene was also incredible. Ray’s monologue and selflessness managed to impress a lot of viewers, and fans admit to feeling nervous when he was about to burn himself alive.
But Emma was there to save the day and catch the burning match before it hit the gasoline. How powerful was that?
- “Why did you give birth to me?”
Isabella’s story was hauntingly beautiful, and this was the moment when viewers started feeling something for her. Except for fear and disgust, that is. But the moment we learned that Ray was her son blew our minds.
Ray asking her why she gave birth to him and Isabella’s frightened face will forever remain one of the most iconic moments of The Promised Neverland.
- Kids escape
The Promised Neverland feels like a type of series where anything can happen, so there were a lot of fans who weren’t confident that the children would be able to escape. Dozens of things could have gone wrong, and everyone was nervous.
That’s why it felt so good to finally see the kids escaping, and Emma saying “sayonara” to Isabella was just what we needed.
