When people talk about anime recommendations, we usually hear such titles as Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen. The reason for that is a no-brainer, these series are extremely popular, they have gorgeous visuals and engaging stories. However, today we're going to talk about some less obvious choices for when you need an anime recommendation.
Monster
Monster is a psychological thriller with a taste of a detective story. Kenzou Tenma is a brilliant surgeon who saves the life of a young boy. Years later, this boy comes back into Tenma's life and it turns out he's not just an innocent man. The doctor gets dragged into a cruel yet mysterious story which leads to him questioning his decisions and morals.
Made in Abyss
The town where Riko, the main character of the anime, lives has a deep hole descending deep into the earth, called the Abyss. The girl is not allowed to go further than the upper layers, however, the encounter with a mysterious boy-looking robot makes Riko go deeper into the Abyss and explore its secrets.
Words Bubble Up Like Soda
Mystery and murder are awesome, but what about something lighter and more cheerful? Let's add some romance to our list! Cherry is a quiet boy who expresses his feelings through writing haiku, Smile is an online influencer who's shy about her teeth. The two meet and embark on a colorful journey to find a vinyl record for a vintage record shop owner and bond along the way, of course!
Spy x Family
Loid Forger is an intelligence agent who has to pretend he's got a normal family for his mission. For the sake of his crafty plan, he gets himself two charming ladies to play the roles of his wife and daughter. But it turns out that being an intelligence agent might be easier for Loid than playing the role of a loving husband and father.
Ajin

Although some people are turned off by the CGI animation of the series, there's a pretty refreshing dark fantasy thriller hidden behind that. In the world of Ajin there are people who possess regeneration abilities that can be triggered by a person's death and help them recover within seconds. The main protagonist, Nagai Kei, discovers that he's one of those people and now he has to deal with it. We don't want to spoil anything, but let's just say that the story has a lot to offer and surprise you with.
