5 Times Great Anime Screwed Up (but Fans Loved Them Anyway)

5 Times Great Anime Screwed Up (but Fans Loved Them Anyway)

Nothing is perfect.

There are dozens of anime series that can be considered true classics. While speaking about such shows, fans tend to point out their strongest parts, and that’s understandable: it is always nice to concentrate on the positive.

But let’s remember some of the flaws that these iconic series have. Don’t worry, though, these flaws are incapable of making us love these anime any less.

  1. Death Note ― Everything after L’s death

Death Note is an immensely popular series even now, almost 20 years after its premiere.

The beginning of the anime is truly magnificent ― one of the best ever-existing anime starts. And the series remains highly entertaining for many episodes after that. But there is a moment that fans consider a turning point of the series: the death of L.

They think that Death Note was never as great as before after L’s demise, and the series went downhill from there.

  1. One Piece ― Pacing

When an anime has so many episodes, it’s obvious that all parts of the story cannot be paced equally well. And this is what happened to One Piece.

It’s one of the greatest anime series and fans love it for so many things, but they admit that pacing is not one of them; the series fails to keep all the 1000+ episodes entertaining.

Let’s just hope the upcoming remake will fix this issue.

  1. Jujutsu Kaisen ― Killing off important characters

 - image 3

“Not afraid of killing important characters” is usually a compliment when we’re talking about various types of media. But Jujutsu Kaisen does it so often that it stops making any impact (and sense, to be honest).

And manga readers warn you that it’s going to get even worse. So try not to get too attached to any of the characters, or you’ll get your heart broken.

  1. Vinland Saga ― Canute’s development

 - image 4

For a series that values character development so much, Canute’s storyline felt incredibly rushed. He turned from a pretty weakling that couldn’t do anything without his protectors to a true king, worthy of respect and even fear.

Fans don’t mind this development, of course, but they needed more time for it to happen to actually believe it.

  1. Made in Abyss ― Questionable scenes

 - image 5

Made in Abyss is an outstanding series, but fans don’t like to recommend it to other people due to how problematic the anime is.

There are so many questionable, weird, brutal and even sexual scenes featuring children that this anime is considered one of the darkest and most unsettling ones.
