7th Time Loop’s Rishe is No Damsel in Distress, and That’s Why We Love Her

She’s a true fighter.

Episode 6 spoilers ahead!

Summary:

  • Rishe showed another side of herself in the latest episode.
  • She doesn’t need a man to save her.
  • Other characters praise Rishe for her independence.

Rishe in 7th Time Loop (Loop 7-kaime) has already proven to be all types of things, and we don’t think we’ll ever stop admiring her for that. Her past lives’ experiences make her a unique character, and she’s already impressed the viewers with being a great strategist, herbalist, merchant and just a kind and genuine person.

Episode 6 was especially exciting for fans, since we finally learned more about a different side of Rishe, a more frightening and even badass one.

It was never a secret that Rishe could fight and used to be a knight in one of her previous lives. We saw her fight back in Episode 1, when her first encounter with Arnold cost Rishe her life. It goes without saying that knights experience all sorts of things in their lives. Including getting captured and sometimes even tortured.

It’s easy to forget about this particular thing from Rishe’s biography due to how gentle and nice she usually is. That’s why Episode 6 was so important for Rishe’s character: it showed us how cruel she may also be.

At the end of Episode 5, Rishe is betrayed by her servants and captured by Theodore. There seems to be nowhere to run and the initial thought is of course that Arnold is supposed to save her. This would be a key point in their relationship development and would bond these two a little bit more.

She can handle herself

But no, Rishe doesn’t need to be saved. Moreover, she doesn’t just get out of her prison by herself, but also teaches Theodore a lesson and explains how one should properly capture a person.

The story could have gone so many other ways. With Arnold or anyone else familiar with Rishe directly saving her. With Arnold reasoning with Theodore and persuading him to release Rishe. With an accident leading to her escape.

However, none of the above happened, and Rishe once again used her skills to get out of the situation and become a victor. She doesn’t need to be rescued or taken care of, she can do everything by herself.

Not only is she incredibly smart and experienced, she’s also brave and clever. Yes, 7th Time Loop is a romance anime, but having a man in Rishe’s life doesn’t define her, she’s very independent.

The most incredible thing is that Arnold also knows that. He was just waiting for her to come, since he knew she didn’t need his help. Moreover, it’s clear that he’s interested in Rishe because of how strong and independent she is.

It’s not just that we understand that Rishe is no damsel in distress, it’s also the fact that other characters praise her for it, which is quite unusual for girls in anime. And Rishe once again proved that she’s an extraordinary female character.
