A Journey Through Another World: Raising Kids While Adventuring — Another Generic Isekai Announcement or Something More?

We actually got an interesting piece of knowledge about seiyuu from this announcement.

Summary:

  • A Journey Through Another World: Raising Kids While Adventuring anime has been announced, and fans are wondering if it’s worth watching.
  • The voice actresses behind the twins were revealed — they will be Aina Suzuki and Miharu Hanai, who are apparently sisters in real life.
  • While there is not enough information on the project, it might be worth watching for the casting choice alone.

An anime adaptation of A Journey Through Another World: Raising Kids While Adventuring (Isekai Yururi Kikou: Kosodateshinagara Boukensha Shimasu) has just been announced. In the age of never-ending isekai works, however, it would be only natural for fans to wonder where this one is worth watching. Let’s look at what we know at the moment.

What do we know right now?

The project is announced for 2024 — no further date known at this point. Atsushi Nigorikawa (Beast Tamer, Love Tyrant) will direct the show, with it being produced by studio EMT Squared. The anime will follow Takumi Kayano, who died because of a mistake and can’t be reborn — however, God transports him into a different world, where he finds two children and raises them. The light novel has 15 volumes at this point, and it’s still ongoing, meaning we’re definitely only getting a glimpse of the whole picture — granted, it is mostly a chill slice-of-life fantasy, and we probably won’t get hit with a cliffhanger.

The more interesting part, however, is that the seiyuu behind the children have already been announced. Allen will be played by Aina Suzuki, while Elena will be played by Miharu Hanai. The curious part is: during the event where the project was announced, they have revealed that they are actually sisters. While they have been in the same anime before (Dropkick On My Devil!), this time, they will be playing siblings in the show as well. Hanai said that she always looked up to her older sister, whose career choice inspired her to become a voice actress as well, and that she’s happy that they will both appear in a major role in the same anime. Suzuki commented that this work will be important for both of them as well.

Is it worth watching?

Is A Journey Through Another World worth watching over any other isekai focused mainly on relaxing slice-of-life vibes? Currently, unless you’ve read the source material, it’s really hard to tell. There is just not much information available — and it seems like we aren’t getting a PV anytime soon. However, it is perhaps worth checking out because of the casting choice alone — it is not often we get actual sisters cast as siblings in the anime. Moreover, the casting choice was approved by Shizuru Minazuki, the original novel author, who stated that the seiyuu “played the roles perfectly”. A similar sentiment was shared by Tomomi Mizuna, the artist responsible for the manga adaptation of the novel.
