A series not to be skipped by romance enjoyers.
Summary:
- Episode 2 of A Sign of Affection has just aired.
- The series is exceptionally beautiful.
- The visuals of the anime play a big role.
New week, new Sign of Affection (Yubisaki to Renren) episode, yay! This romance doesn’t need much to make you fall in love with it, and the first two episodes are great proof of that.
The series follows Yuki, who is a hearing-impaired student. She meets a handsome boy, Itsuomi, on a train, and it feels like love at first sight because of how smitten she is by him.
Although the anime has quite a simple yet engaging story, this is not the thing fans are praising it for. They think the direction and visual aspects are what really makes A Sign of Affection stand out, and they might be just right.
Visually appealing
It’s true that one of the first things you notice when you start watching the series is how absolutely beautiful it is. Everything from the character design to backgrounds looks stunning. Yuki and her eyes alone can make you watch the anime, you don’t even need anything else. But the anime does have something else.
Fans have noticed how well the visuals and sound design convey Yuki’s emotions. She can’t hear, so she obviously can’t say what she’s feeling out loud. However, we hear her internal monologue, which doesn’t allow her to be just an emotionless puppet.
Colors play a big role
The anime plays with colors very well, and if you look closely, you can notice how the picture gets more vivid every time Yuki looks at Itsuomi. Bright colors flood the scene during some of their interactions, and they suit Yuki’s thoughts well.
The contrast in the way Yuki perceives different characters is also incredible. For example, when she interacts with her old friend, the picture looks grayish, and Itsuomi is associated with a gorgeously bright blue sky. A viewer doesn’t just see that Itsuomi is handsome, they can feel it.
The animation of A Sign of Affection is also top-notch. Fans especially point out the hand animation, and it’s no wonder that this part of the series is paid extra attention to. Since Yuki is a hearing-impaired girl, she uses sign language a lot.
A Sign of Affection is a wonderful portrayal of first love. We can see and feel how Yuki is blossoming every time she’s around Itsuomi or interacts with him online. Even when she thinks about him!
All the tiny details that the animators included make the impact of Yuki’s feelings even stronger and the entire thing even more enjoyable.
