Arthur Conan Doyle Combined With Fanservice: Yuukoku No Moriarty

Yeah, Sherlock Holmes is awesome, but what about Moriarty?

We’re sure you don’t need any explanation of who Sherlock and Moriarty are. This story has been around for so long, that it’s practically impossible to have never seen it. However, all this time we’ve been looking on one side of the story only, so what about Moriarty becoming the main protagonist and the viewers exploring his side of events?

William James Moriarty is portrayed as a nobleman from a wealthy English family. He and his brother were adopted into Albert Moriarty’s family at a young age, and this is when James showed his vicious scheming abilities, helping Albert to kill a member of his family. Although being traditionally depicted as a criminal mastermind, in this series Moriarty uses his intelligence and resources to fight against the injustices of the class system. He wishes to end corruption, bring those who abuse their powers down and stop the suffering of the lower class. This justice-seeking nature doesn’t really match the idea of Moriarty we have after reading and watching countless Sherlock Holmes stories, but works perfectly for this anime.

When fans first heard about Yuukoku No Moriarty, they were interested. The concept of the show looks appealing and Moriarty has been among fan favorite characters since the release of BBC Sherlock TV series (and for some — even before that). As the series progresses, the story gets more and more interesting, and seeing all the beloved characters in their anime forms never fails to play with your excitement.

One of the first things fans mention is the chemistry between characters. Sherlock and Watson are such an iconic duo that has managed to win people’s hearts countless number of times. However, while still thinking that their duo was pretty cute in the series, they are not the ones fans are most hyped about. Yuukoku No Moriarty provides more interactions between Sherlock and Moriarty, which are packed with interesting dialog, on-point deduction and undeniable chemistry. Looks like Sheriarty fans have finally got their dream come true!

We all know this Victorian London musical vibe that Sherlock Holmes movies and series have, and Yuukoku No Moriarty is no exception. Fans point out the soundtrack of the anime, saying that it managed to do the right job during all the important moments. Besides, the opening and ending themes made the viewers fall in love with these bangers instantly.

If you’re still sad about BBC Sherlock not airing anymore and looking for more details about this iconic story, Yuukoku No Moriarty is just the anime for you!
