Attack on Titan No Requiem is Getting an Anime Adaptation

Fan content goes to another level.

Summary:

  • Attack on Titan no Requiem is animated by Studio Eclypse.
  • The trailer for the project has been released.
  • The animated adaptation will air in 2024, and fans are excited.

Attack on Titan no Requiem is a fan-made manga based on the Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) series. It started as a fan theory that Eren would complete the Rumbling and annihilate the world outside of Paradis. The official manga ending proved the theory wrong, but fans enjoyed it so much that AOTNR was created. It offers a fresh take on the last Attack on Titan manga chapters, and heals the hearts of those who were disappointed by the actual finale.

The trailer is out!

An online animation group, Studio Eclypse, who describe themselves as “a team of passionate fans from each part of the globe with different backgrounds, cultures and languages” have released a trailer for their upcoming animated adaptation of AOTNR.

If you expected the MAPPA level of animation, then we have to disappoint you. While looking pretty good, the trailer is inferior to the original Attack on Titan anime, and it’s pretty understandable. A fan studio cannot compete with giants of the anime industry. Nevertheless, it looks much better than you could’ve expected from a fan animation, and viewers note great work that’s done on the backgrounds in the trailer. AOTNR is scheduled for Fall 2024, and we can’t wait what this talented team will have to offer.

Fans’ response

As it always is, there are supporters of this idea and there are those who oppose it. AOTNR has some storytelling decisions that were found questionable by the original ending defenders, and they call the entire thing just a dumb way to cope with the finale.

However, a lot of fans are hyped for the adaptation. Even some of those who admit to preferring the original ending seem to be interested in the project. After all, this is just another take on the finale events, and it’s always interesting to see what fans can come up with.

It goes without saying that ending haters are hyped for AOTNR. They find this story much more compelling than the original one, and seeing it animated is their dream come true. They just want to have fun with their favorite anime, and see where it all goes.

There’s also hope that some of the scenes shown in the trailer will be polished in the process. Fans enjoy what it looks like now, and they praise Studio Eclypse, but MAPPA has set the bar pretty high, and they wish the fan made project to be capable of standing the comparison.
