Call of the Night Season 2 Is Finally Officially Confirmed

Turns out that the foreshadowed announcement really was for the anime continuation.

Summary:

  • Call of the Night has been rumored to receive another season, and the rumors have been confirmed.
  • Many were expecting this announcement, but they’re happy about it nonetheless.
  • Fans really want a full adaptation, but it’s too early to talk about that.

Talks about Call of the Night (Yofukashi no Uta) receiving Season 2 have been around since the manga ended. After all, there was a teaser for an unspecified announcement scheduled for March 11. During the days before the announced date, multiple X (formerly Twitter) accounts dedicated to leaks have mentioned the anime getting a second season.

Well, it turns out that the fans (and the leakers) were right on this one. The official X account behind the series revealed the fact that the second season of the anime is currently in production — along with a teaser visual.

It was really obvious in hindsight

It’s not like it was hard to guess the anime getting a new season. The series was extremely popular before — both in anime and manga form — and the manga has ended recently. March 11 is not the released day for the magazine it was published in, and it’s not like Call of the Night was realistically going to get a live action adaptation or a game.

The only possible scheduled adaptation was obviously anime-related. And the most likely scenario was the anime getting a second season — there’s more than enough content in the manga, and it would make no sense to announce something else.

Fans want more than just another season

Fans have been eagerly awaiting for another season of the series. After all, the first season didn’t even adapt a quarter of the manga — there are 200 chapters in total, and the anime adapted 46 of them, even skipping some content.

There’s definitely enough content for at least 3 more seasons, especially considering that the first season was essentially an adaptation of the prologue.

Fans aren’t actually that upset about the skipped content. They still consider the manga to be a superior experience, but they like the anime as well — and they are very excited about the new season being announced.

Can we hope for a full adaptation of Call of the Night? Possibly. The series definitely did well enough to justify multiple new seasons, and it has a dedicated fanbase that wants it to be fully adapted.

While it is too early to speculate, fans are still hoping — some of them want the anime ending to be elaborated on, as the mangaka is famous for his open endings. That said, it is still far too early to make any assumptions: we don’t even have a date for Season 2
