Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction is an upcoming two-part movie series, based on the manga by Inio Asano. The first movie is just around the corner, as it’s scheduled for March 22, 2024, and the second part will follow on May 24, 2024.
The movies are produced by Production +h, which is not a very popular studio. However, fans think that DDDDD might be just the anime that will bring it some recognition.
DDDDD follows two girls, Kadode and Ouran, who live in Tokyo, where a giant alien spaceship suddenly appeared. Despite it sounding like something that can ruin pretty much everyone’s day, the girls keep living their simple lives: they attend classes, hang out with their friends, and just try to have fun.
And this is the vibe that followed every trailer of DDDDD: there are aliens, giant spaceships, and two girls being dorky. There’s always brutal destruction and fear combined with calm everyday moments.
Main trailer is out
The main trailer that’s just been released also provides the same contrast. You hear frightening music, you see terrifying machines, but then one of the girls does something hilarious, and you don’t even know what to feel anymore.
Should you be scared? Should you laugh? DDDDD knows how to confuse you well, and it’s wonderful.
Fans have previously pointed out that the art style in the trailers stays true to the original style of Inio Asano, and the main trailer follows suit. It'll take some time to get used to it if you haven't read the manga, but it’s impossible to deny that it looks peculiar in a good way.
