Deadpool Introduces the Coolest Chainsaw Man Reference

Deadpool Introduces the Coolest Chainsaw Man Reference

That was a great touch.

Summary:

  • Deadpool 2024 referenced Chainsaw Man.
  • Deadpool copied Aki’s hand gesture and summoned his symbiote-dog.
  • Fans fell in love with the reference.

The first and most recent issue of Deadpool 2024 written by Cody Ziglar has just been released, but you can already find it online. And Chainsaw Man fans saw a very peculiar reference on one of the pages.

You Ever Seen Chainsaw Man?

Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, is on a new mission to eliminate some bad guys with his symbiote-dog daughter named Princess who was born by bursting out of his chest (yeah, you read that right). He gets hit by an RPG bullet, and things aren’t looking that good for him.

Deadpool lies on the ground when one of the guys approaches him, and this is where Wade asks “You ever seen Chainsaw Man?” right before raising a hand and making the gesture that Aki made to summon his Fox Devil.

Princess appears just like the devil does in Chainsaw Man and devours the criminal. The only thing missing was Wade saying “Kon,” but we’ll take what we can get.

It Was Epic

Needless to say, Chainsaw Man fans found this reference extremely cool. No matter how popular anime is getting, it’s still very surprising and exciting to see references to it in other types of media. And Marvel comics are a big deal.

Some fans found the reference a bit right-in-your-face since Deadpool says the name of the anime directly, and thought it would’ve been better if he just made the gesture without mentioning the title of the series.

But others thought it was more than fitting. Deadpool is notorious for talking a lot and not being able to shut up even on the brink of death, so of course he had to say “Chainsaw Man,” it was very in-character. There’s little subtlety with Wade, and the entire scene was incredible.

Moreover, fans thought that choosing Deadpool to make an anime reference was perfect. He’s one of the most eccentric comic book characters who constantly breaks the fourth wall, so it’s obvious: it had to be him.

Besides, Deadpool is an antihero who can regenerate body parts, and his “pet symbiote” appeared from a part of him, which only makes the similarity to Chainsaw Man stronger. Fans absolutely love it!

Apart from the scene just being awesome, it might also attract more attention to the Chainsaw Man manga, and it’s always a great thing. We wonder how many people decided to google “Chainsaw Man” after they read Deadpool.
