Demon Slayer: How to Read Manga Arcs and Watch Anime in Order (2024)

Don’t worry, it’s very easy.

Summary:

  • Demon Slayer anime has three seasons as of now, and the fourth one is coming.
  • You can avoid all the Demon Slayers movies as there’s nothing you won’t see in the series.
  • The manga is finished and has 207 chapters.

Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) is one of the most popular ongoing manga and anime series, so it’s natural that more and more fans want to know what all the hype is about. And the first and most important question is always the watch and read order.

It might be a bit confusing with Demon Slayer because the seasons aren’t just called Season 1, Season 2, etc., but they have proper names. So let’s figure out a couple of things.

Anime watch order

The first season is the easiest one, since it doesn’t have a particular name. It aired from April 6, 2019 to September 28, 2019, and has 26 episodes. And this is naturally the best thing to start watching the anime with.

Then there was a movie, Mugen Train, but it’s up to you whether you’d like to watch it or not. It’s an outstanding experience, but the thing is that it covers the same story arc as the first part of Season 2. So if you prefer watching series to watching movies, you can just skip it and move to the next season.

After the first season, there comes the Mugen Train Arc adaptation. It aired from October 10, 2021 to November 28, 2021, has 7 episodes and is considered the first part of Season 2.

The second part of the season is the Entertainment District Arc (aired from December 5, 2021 to February 13, 2022), which has 11 episodes.

And the Swordsmith Village Arc (aired from April 9, 2023 to June 18, 2023) is the third season of the series and also has 11 episodes.

The Hashira Training Arc is currently in the works and is scheduled for May 12, 2024.

There are also a couple of compilation movies (Sibling's Bond, To the Swordsmith Village, To the Hashira Training Arc), but they don’t bring anything new to the story, so if you have finished all the anime episodes, there’s no need to watch them.

There is also Junior High and High School!! Kimetsu Academy Story, which you can watch just for fun. Just know that it doesn’t affect the original story either.

Manga arcs

The best part about the Demon Slayer manga is that it’s finished. It was published from February 15, 2016 to May 18, 2020, and has 207 chapters.

There are 11 arcs in the manga:

  • Final Selection (Season 1 Episodes 1-5 of the anime), Kidnapper's Bog (Episode 6-7), Asakusa (Episodes 8-10), Tsuzumi Mansion (Episodes 11-14), Mount Natagumo (Episodes 15-21), Rehabilitation Training (Episodes 22-26);
  • Mugen Train (Season 2 Episodes 1-7), Entertainment District (Episodes 8-18);
  • Swordsmith Village (Season 3);
  • Hashira Training (Upcoming Season 4);
  • Final Battle (divided into two subarcs: Infinity Castle and Sunrise Countdown ― yet to be adapted into anime).

If you’ve finished all of the currently aired anime episodes, you should start with the Hashira Training Arc of the manga, which begins at Chapter 128. And if you’re reading this after the Hashira Training Arc is over in the anime, the Final Battle Arc starts with Chapter 137, so head straight to it.

Don’t worry, it’s very easy.
