Winter anime season 2024 is coming to an end, and we are saying goodbye to more and more anime each week. Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp (Gekai Elise) Episode 12 aired on March 27, 2024, and Season 1 of the series is officially over.
The last episode feels like a happy ending. Elise figured out the case of the King’s illness and managed to help him. She passed her exams and is ready to be a doctor and save people’s lives now. Feels like the perfect way to stop the series now, but is it going to stop or will there be Season 2?
Season 2 details
There hasn’t been any official information about Season 2 of the series, and there aren’t even any rumors about it ever happening. But fans still feel that there’s a lot of potential in the series and some more things need to be explored.
The main thing being the relationship between Elise and Linden, of course. They don’t end up together in Episode 12, but something very important finally happens: Elise understands that Linden and Ron are the same person.
Which means Linden doesn’t have to hide anymore and he can pursue his feelings for Elise without any secrets spoiling their romantic storyline. Still, this relationship needs a lot of development and exploration.
Although Episode 12 feels like a goodbye and the series would still be great even if it ended like that for good, fans feel like there’s so much left to be told. The Season 1 finale is not the finale of the web novel the anime is based on, so there’s always a chance of getting Season 2.
Is Season 2 happening?
It’s still too early to be confident that a sequel is ever coming. Doctor Elise is a great series, and it has a score of 7.26/10 on MyAnimeList, which is pretty solid. However, there have been other romance anime this season that were more successful. For example, A Sign of Affection or 7th Time Loop.
It doesn’t matter that those series deserve a sequel more, of course, but it means that their chances of getting it are higher.
Fans don’t really believe that they’ll ever see Doctor Elise Season 2 for now, but they’re trying not to lose their faith. After all, the series is great and it managed to attract plenty of attention, so there’s always hope for a sequel.
